Currently watching Korra and i was wondering, does this guy gets any better? Cause he takes his role as comedic relief way too seriously
Currently watching Korra and i was wondering, does this guy gets any better...
No. He does get to do some cool stuff, but if you're asking whether or not you'll grow to like him, if you haven't already, you won't later
i dont know, bat i like this
tha guy of course
Nah, bolin kinda stays as the oblivious retard of the series, he does get to do some cool shit tho
Bolin honestly gets worse over the show, he becomes stupider and stupiders. Only season I liked him in was the first.
Nobody in Korra gets better. Even the most based character in the show gets worse when the writers decided to pander hard to fans and made him a good guy.
>good guy
No, he was just playing the side he knew would win.
I wish book 2 wasn't so shit cause it's not really worth slogging through it for Varrick, who's the only good part. He would have been a better main villain than Mr. Dark Avatar.
Book 2 is legitimately one of the worst seasons of a show I have ever watched. It doesn't even get better in hindsight, it gets WORSE in hindsight because when you're watching it you think the Wan episodes are cool but later you think about it and realize they're extraordinarily shitty and totally wreck the lore, background, and thematic elements of ATLA.
S2 has some of the best animated fights of all of Korra at least
>good guy
He plays on the winning team.
Yes, if only for the fact that there's literally nowhere to go but up once you hit rock bottom. Never reaches "good character" status though.
I'll never forget how in the ONE episode where Korra/Bolin is even suggested the two of them have much better chemistry than Korra ever has with Mako.
I WANT TO CLONE BOLIN SO BAD. AT FIRST, THE TWO BOLINS WILL BE FRIENDLY TO EACHOTHER, BOUNCING JOKES BACK AND FORTH AND ROUGHHOUSING. THEN, ONE NIGHT, BOLIN AND BOLIN ARE CUDDLING IN BED AND FUCK. THEN THEY ARE CLONED AGAIN TO HAVE A BOLIN ORGY. THEN THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF BOLINS WHO ARE MOVED TO A CITY OF THEIR OWN WHERE THEY CAN HAVE DAILY BOLIN ORGIES.
Agreed. One of the few things I liked about season two is how they balanced him being the comic relief while also being menacing. The whole plot should've been the Civil War, with Varrick escalating conflicts between both sides.
Not how it was played. They had Varrick go "Oh no, I was going too far!" when working with Kuvira. They even had him genuinely marry Zhu Li. They even tried to make Coran into their next Varrick, only with him being a good guy from the start.
>Kuvira
His thoughts wasn't about the good/bad of that. It was "oh fuck, now I have no way of playing both sides of this as I'm stuck with this women"
i wish he would've ended up with korra. bolin would make a great peg
Why the fuck do people like Varrick? I don't understand.
Varrick was good when he trolled the heroes and basically gets away with it.
The sheer insecurity that they had to turn him into a good guy and have the fucking show end with his marriage. They stripped him of the thing that made him interesting and still thought people would care about him anyway.
I'm not against him having an arc, but must everything turn into sappy mush?
I really thought Varrick was going to be the main villain of season 2 and was hyped, instead we got goddamn anti-avatar bullshit.
funny brown inventor reminded people of Sokka
I liked how he was an amoral, ruthless businessman masquerading as harmless goofy comic relief in Book 2. It was nice to have a villain who was charming and funny, but still a total prick. But then he was relegated to goofy comic relief in the next two books and lost his charm to me.
>A silly character dropping his goofball mask to reveal that he was a scheming, callus bastard underneath.
The "Hello Mako." moment was the hypest shit of that season and easily Top 5 for the entire show.
If Unaloq had been a red herring or a stooge in Varrick's plan, the season could have actually been saved. Varrick should have been the Avatar equivalent of Lex Luthor, masquerading as a comic relief. With Zhu Li as his Mercy.
No. They portrait all Korra's love interests bad just to make the dyke end good.
Damn that scene was so good. I can't believe I let myself be excited about where the writers might go with Varrick, they had a top tier villain and wasted him. Just like most of the others...
Korra as a whole looks really really good, the animation took a solid step upwards.
I really hate that they chose to homogenize the bending styles though, even the final boss earthbender was flipping around and dodging like an airbender.
It's still looked cool, but it could have given each villain that much more character and diversity in the choreography.
>There was never a Mako vs Bolin in S4.
I will never not be mad.
At least he's not Mako.
Mako kinda improved over the course of the series.
Bolin stagnated from moment one. The only hope I had for him was for him and Asami to form some kind of Abbott and Costello routine, like they did in the beginning of S2.
not really, he gets some character development, but then it gets cut down again.
Mako got screwed badly, his almost heroic sacrifice wasn't even acknowledged
this show was a failure it should have been given someone who actually cared about the lore and characters.
Bryke were just drunk from smell of their own farts from the success of Legend of Aang.
fucking cucks
i remember dropping the show at the part where he's like "cuckaww cuckawww"
They have the best romantic, even friendship, chemistry of any of the characters.
Nah man, Asami and Bolin had kind of a report going on.
Korra barely acknowledged his existence at the best of times.
I think Bolin was pretty interesting in Book 4 for the story where he is with Kuvira and fleeing from her service. It all goes down the drain the moment he reunites with the others however.
I meant for that one episode where Bolin and Korra go on a date. You're right it falls away pretty hard afterwards
