So either Spider-Man doesn't show up in the Helicarrier crashing to NYC mission, or Peter isn't "Spider-Man" yet. Carol appears briefly in a flashback that Kamala has when talking about what made her want to be a hero. Since Carol couldn't be there for everyone during A-Day, Kamala takes it upon herself to be the Ms. Marvel of San Francisco.
