I don't get it, what is the appeal?
Why does Europe treat this as if it was the greatest thing ever?

journalist catches crooks and goes to the moon and has a nice little dog.

literal kino comic

I say the same thing about Scooby Doo. What's the big deal? People just like to inherit nostalgia. I guess.

Filthered. the american brain shuts down if the comic does not have big boobies, quips or blood everywhere

He was cooler before they forced the Captain to always do his fighting for him.

Let me guess, you need gushing melodrama and romance subplots?

Because it's great. Kuifje is the GOAT Action/Adventure cartoon

Gebaseerd en roodgepild, mijn broeders!

It's comfy and well written, and it's been on for decades. Just like your supers, without the need to turn him gay for atention. And boy, are they gay in europe.

he has fun stories

The main character himself doesn't since he's just boring everyman but rest of the story does. Some colorful characters, humor, action, globe trotting adventures, drama, mysteries

This. This is what is wrong with American comics. Hollywood has rot your brains.

Name one series that does what Tintin does better than Tintin does it.

No fluff, no bullshit, just a bunch of decent characters going on adventures and getting into trouble, what's not to like?

hate to post this shit thing but it's a case of this:

Tintin (and Uncle Scrooge comics, among with many others) did things that basically lead to movies like Indiana Jones. Hell, the "famous" boulder scene? That's actually a straight up homage to a Carl Barks comic. Pic related.
They came first. They set the stage. And then a big dick movie director took the credit, leaving ignorant anons to discover them years later and think.
>hmmm, what was this about? hasn't this been done already?

Carl Barks's Duck comics

There is a sense of adventure not captured as well in other adventure comics. There's just something so timeless and hypnotic about it. I also love the ligne claire art.
I prefer the best Tintin stories to Bone, Duck comics, Corto Maltese, One Piece, Dragon Ball, etc.

I wonder if It had something to do how it took years after Carl worked on Duck comics for Disney to reveal any type credit behind their comic line

No. Too cartoony.

Please, you already made this thread. At least you had the courtesy to change the picture and shift the text around a little, but come on.

They are undoubtably kino, but I still think Tintin is better.

Always loved the sheer energy and expressiveness in Barks' comics

The animated series had literally the greatest theme of all time. Listen to this shit. Pure adventure and wonderment.

Oh fuck, Spielberg copied this too. And he did it in a Tintin movie!

Oh yeah

I get it, but for me, it takes away from any sense of danger or thrill. It leans too hard on the gags. I respect Barks, but I don't enjoy his Duck comics as much as I do Tintin.

He's not an everyman, he has a high intellect, can handle guns and is an expert boxer
He's a mini-Batman

For me Scooby Doo always aires on reruns in the 90s. A new cartoon cama out in the early 2000s. Then in 2010 Mystery Inc came out which was legitimately great.

Here in canada we had a grear tintin cartoon in the 90s too.

Sometimes people who look like are baiting for negsrivity are just teying to reverse psychology threads with shitton more replies

Everyman in the sense that he doesn't have much of a personality. There's probably a better, more suitable word for it.

Audience surrogate?

I loved this cartoon growing up.
