While neither invented it, GF certainly did popularize it enough for even shows airing now to take influence from it

AT popularized it. GF was just chasing trends, since AT was a pop culture phenomenon back in 2012. Besides, AT was halfway through Season 4 when GF premiered, and the Season 5 two partner came out when GF only had 12 eps.

Nothing has universal appeal and there's always going to be things that are more pleasurable than cocaine for its fanatics and generally well recieved by its general audience that do absolutely nothing for you.
You're not wrong, the casual fans aren't wrong, the fanatics aren't wrong, you're all experiencing exactly the right amount of enjoyment from it in proportion to how much it resonates with your sense of fun.
And I say this as general advice, not to dismiss you, but the sooner yoy learn to accept when that happens, the quicker you learn to zero in on stuff that will resonate with you personally and not just check out whatever is popular expecting to get the same amount of enjoyment as its most devout fanatics

The original series was generic "randumb" shit and the "lore" was basic "dude what if the world was actual post-nukes" facebook stuff

And yet, it worked, because the execution was great. They were able to take something that could've ended being a cringy mess, yet turned into something that resonated with viewers. Besides, GF relies far more on dated comedy than AT does, easily

Its all subjective. I could never get into Adventure Time, but Gravity Falls is easily my favorite (western) kids show since Avatar.
