Rick and Morty was never bad.
I want to know when people decided R&M is bad, because outside of a few lackluster eps I never noticed a trending decline in quality, most other series usually start going to shit after the first couple of seasons but I think this one has outlasted many of them in terms of creativity and comedy and still comes up with iconic bangers like Never Ricking Morty. Is it just a case of people hating a show because they don't like the creator/fanbase? Or is it because of the show's correlation with reddit? Or is all the hate just coming from the fags who don't want it to be fun episodic adventures and only care about muh lore and evil morty?
Why can't it be all of those?
>burp capitalism bad
it can hardly get preachy with the amount of consumerism in the show itself to say nothing on its merchandising. besides that i didnt even notice much of a quality drop as others have had during season 3, maybe i didnt consider a very critical eye on those then but right now i feel like this show is doing as it pleases and doing its best to get a laugh off.
ive not been keeping up with season 4 but SOMETHING is making some fujos i follow on social media lose they shit so
im guessing they finally went ahead and canon shipped these two?
The issue with capitalism is that it's an entirely material view of man. which the left also succumbs to so they're really not the counter-force they wish they where
In the last episode Rick and Morty'd bodies were taken over by gay alien parasites that made them make out with each other, so kind of
>which the left succumbs to
yeah, but at that point the idea is above left and right isnt it? at most R&M is making fun of the same people buying its own merchandise but why?
I legitimately don’t understand why Zig Forums seems to shit on Rick and Morty for every single thing it does now, like, did I miss something? The show isn’t quite as good as it once was but there’s nothing terrible or completely unwatchable about it. Like why did the opinion shift so much? Even the latest episode which was a return to “classic” rick and morty adventures seemed hated, I don’t get how the show can win
It was a combination of the schezwan sauce debacle and the season trailer that showed pickle rick. The former speaks for itself, the pickle rick gag was interpreted as meant to being the punchline of a gag in itself, and when the episode aired and was all about Rick's family outside Beth shitting on him for being Like That, culminating in a misc character spelling out that people who find Rick relatable or admirable are missing the point, they doubled down as though it was hypocritical to base a character on the worst parts of yourself and then call them a piece of shit that's the prime engineer of their continued unhappiness
harmon is left wing so he triggers them same as alex hirsch does
>yeah, but at that point the idea is above left and right isnt it?
Exactly.
No.
Bible-thumpers.
Is getting worse, at least is not season 3...Yet.
I'm sure the retards who go out of their way to shit on rick and morty are the same tumblr rejects who constantly spam the board with Steven Universe and Shera threads.
Never found it funny or entertaining, the lizard stripper and Summer out growing the garage were pretty hot though ngl
I think Zig Forums liked a lot of the first season. More grounded, more interesting. None of this lore shit popped up it was just a weird cartoon you could watch of a narcissistic egotistical grandpa and his grandson, where Rick wasn't an unstoppable force and Morty was still relatively naive. It's a lot like one of the most famous duos that play off one another, Spongebob and Squidward. I think if Rick and Morty had gone in a different direction, and perhaps I don't know the exact degree for that, it could have become something that would be more known for than its blatant materialist, Californian nuNihilism that makes one want to puke because of how trite the premise of those concepts are.
It really could have been a good show, and I think that's what makes Zig Forums so angry - it isn't.
This is pretty much exactly it.
>blatant materialist
Bible-Thumper.
It was new and refreshing in the first season. But after the novelty wore off, the show is losing its shine.
I just really fucking hated Revengers 3 and the Snake episode. In one they murder their allies for being hypocrites and get away with it, in the second they genocide an entire species because it's convenient for them.
That's levels of wrong I can't even fathom how people can justify it or keep watching. Can you imagine how disgusted Picard or someone would be at that sort of thing?
It's similar to south park, works extremely well as an episodic show, but it's a mediocre plot drive show
>It really could have been a good show, and I think that's what makes Zig Forums so angry - it isn't.
Zig Forums tends to get most upset with shows that started out with promise and then either didn't live up to it or went to shit. SU, Star vs., and Korra all immediately come to mind.
Bait?
It’s a comedy cartoon. It’s not meant to be taken seriously
>hm, this post might be bait
>i know! i'll give it a (you)!
user, please
I never thought it was bad. I don't care for when the show tries to indulge in maudlin real-world family drama, but when it's firing on all cylinders with sci-fi escapades it's great. As a long-time Community fan I can tell you that Harmon is absolutely a prick, though.
Last episode was boring, but the season as a whole is a lot more fun and enjoyable. S2 is definitely the worst still.
That's maybe didn't happen
The same shit happened with Zig Forums and Undertale. Zig Forums used to love the shit out of Undertale and would have threads for the demo all the time but as soon as it became popular and the Homosuck crowd latched on Zig Forums treated the thing like the plague even though the actual quality of the thing was good. That's not to say Rick and Morty is as good as Undertale, just the amount of irrational hatred it gets purely because of the fanbase and it's popularity is downright ridiculous.
The previous episode was good, the most recent episode was shit. Rick and Morty hasn't been consistent since season 1. Well, season 3 was consistently bad, I suppose.
There's a lot of idiots who just love to shit on popular things, but I do think that season 3 was pretty bad overall, and I only cemented that opinion after rewatching it.
Star Vs. and Korra were always shit, the highest level they've ever reached was just ok.
