Why does Zig Forums like to overrate the second film so much ? Other than the peacock, there's barely anything to that film. Creatively bankrupt sequel, and the writing is far worse than 1

I thought the first was more by the numbers. I still love the first two equally.

1 has a far better script. 2 had a very sloppy script imo, relying too much on exposition and bad comedy. Also, Shifu being sidelined in 2 was a big mistake

I agree with Shifu being sidelined being bad. I didn't think the comedy was that intrusive in 2. 3 on the other hand had the worst comedy of the trilogy.

I didn't even bother with 3. I mostly don't pay much attention to Dreamworks sequels, since they're all just brand extensions made solely for the money. None of their sequels justify their existence.

Not really. Not a fan of the way they approach their brands. Like, i really enjoyed Dragon 1, but it certainly wasn't a film that needed sequels, CN shows, Netflix shows, holiday specials and such. That's just cynical brand expansion

It’s not Zig Forums as much as literally everyone. It’s probably because people were expecting trash and got blown away by the fact that it was probably on roughly equal quality as the first movie. It’s also kinda compatible to Empire Strikes back by the fact that the MC has to undergo self reflection in a darker toned movie along with revelations on character’s backstory. Normies and a lot of people just like shit like that.

Shen was absolutely a scene stealer.

All the furious five not named tigress were severely underused. Except of course in the tv cartoon were they all got very meaningful development and their own spotlight. Guess it's hard to cram that into the big screen without taking away for the big ass journey Po underwent

They also had the Secrets of the Furious Five and Secrets of the Scroll special which focused on their individual origins and the origin of how they became a team respectively.

Nah, 1 was better. Pacing, humor, character interactions and fight scenes were superior. The lack of Shifu or Oogway really hurts the film, and Po's antics just aren't as endearing or funny when he's a fully trained warrior.

I don't know, I found it pretty endearing to see Po literally "living the dream" at the musicians village. Loved some of the visual callbacks to the dream sequence in the first movie.
