if you could make a Steven Universe reboot be would it be about?
Steven Universe reboot
Scrap the old artstyle for one more inspired by JoJo or Gurren Lagann. Add male Gems to the canon. Leave Beach City within the first season, and have the series focus on Steven dealing with having to become Space Jesus. Add in a little bit of moral questioning into his unyielding pacifism. Have fusions be controlled by the personalities of the parties involved. For instance, somebody who is more bossy or commanding has control of the body, and it takes more from their design. A perfect unity combines aspects from both characters, and are usually stronger. Give both types of Gems exaggerated features, (Huge thighs, tiddies, bulges, etc.) and bump up the rating so they can talk about more mature themes, and make the fight scenes a bit more brutal.
"Steven's bizarre adventure" nice
About an actually good show
I'd like to watch that, and i also think that having Gem politics would be more interesting. Not just some "And everyone worships the diamonds until they're totally fine switching to a complete democracy within what is less than an eyeblink for them"
Hey, if they wanna make everybody flamboyant, at least make them easy on the eyes.
Steven and Connie fucking all episode, every episode.
Leave everything up to jailbreak the same. After jailbreak focus more on the gempire and monster of the week stuff than the townies. Make the townie episodes involve gems and old gem tech more often. Have beach city change as a result of the spaceship crash landing next to it. Introduce more human characters with agency. Remove the barn and have Peridot live with the gems or in beach city. Don't redeem Yellow Diamond and keep her as an antagonist up until the end of the series. Don't redeem White Diamond.
This was the ideal for sure. I can accept it not being anything like this but man they had a strong foundation.
The world is a lot more advanced due to the leftover gem technology being re-engineered. More bad guys like human villains or alien villains that aren’t gonna be defeated with a song and a hug. Background characters should be more useful/ interesting than previous characters. Also making connie a cyborg would make her more useful in the team since she would be more physical stronger. Dbz like fights and art style should look more dynamic
Cont.
More world building. We don't know much about earth outside of Beach City. Maybe introduce the feds. Does the US even exist in SU earth? To borrow from Have Steven's pacifism be questioned more often. If Steven does redeem someone they shouldn't be left off the hook for the bad shit they've done if their crimes were especially heinous and redeeming people should be difficult and take a while. Redemption arcs should be more like Peridot's than the Diamond's.
yeah... we can't really do that so we'll have to settle for the next best thing
>Add male Gems to the canon
No, add Metal Men instead.
They can still retain the episodic nature of the show by having steven and the gang embark on a new planet each episode and have entire arcs on some planets if the story calls for it.
Last post I swear.
Have conflict with antagonists be driven by them having genuinely different worldviews instead of misunderstandings that can be resolved with a 5 minute conversion. Again more like the Peridot arc than the Diamond redemption arc
Steven is born a girl, and Connie a boy... haha
well that might decree the autism in the fandom
Sorry
Let peridot be naturally tall or have her keep her limb extenders.
Help, I'm getting Dragonball GT flashbacks.
Peridot being smol is a big part of her appeal!
ah yes i too remember the arc where Peridot has to overcome her crippling alcohol addiction
I liked tallidot more.
Also don't make Garnet's entire character revolve around fusion post jailbreak and make Ruby and Saphire less creepily co-dependent on each other.
Peridot when she was tall seemed like she could be an actual threat, if you were dumb enough to think this show would ever actually have any real threats. Small peridot is basically a completely separate character.
remember when people thought peridot was shrinking but as it turns out the storyboarder were just morons who didn't understand the concept of being on model
>inb4 gem stuff
I never thought it was intentional.
You're going to run out of usable names after Germanium, Beryllium, and "Rusty".
And in final episode every gem gonna have the biggest orgy, incuding of course Steven and Connie
>e: 116499EC-30
desu rule 63 at its finest
Scientists struggling to comprehend that time the entire ocean stood erect.
>art style more akin to hoshi no kaabii or Makai kingdom's freaks instead of tumblr shit
>more of an action show than anything
>no filler townie shit
>humanity is more advanced due to gem tech
>keep human interaction at a minium like the TMNT
>gems are far more ambiguous and truly genderless
and have more attributes of the gem that they are supposedly representing
>we see shit from antagonists perspective as well as other protagonists
>fusion is an abiltiy of the warp creating higher lifeforms as opposed to a relationship.
>see destroyed planets ravished by the empire
>steven's pacifist ways are shattered when he has to make a tough choice between saving humans and shattering a high ranking gem official
>pink diamond was a defect and she was sent to earth as not to be a distraction to the other diamonds and the world's obliteration was planned
>diamonds are far more cold and callus and more representive of the health hazard diamond
>diamonds speak with a crystalline echo after every word.
>diamonds are taken out throughout the series in order to create some restoration machine.
I could go on, but you get the idea.
