Which of them is the better "love letter to the franchise"

Which of them is the better "love letter to the franchise"

non since his a teen in both when spider-man has been an adult for most of his existence

Spectacular but only because it knew the source and how to use it with difference

He's not a teen in Spider-Verse

Those are some pointy knees.

Spider verse reminds me the most of Juniors run so it takes that prize for now.

>A teen in both
Did you even see Spiderverse? Hell, you would've known he wasn't just from trailers

ITSV was a good one but I feel like PS4 had a lot more love poured into it to be honest.

Spectacular and not even close.

That’s because the PS4 game was made by a team with a vision and into the spiderverse was “4th times the charm” in Sony’s insistence on throwing everything into a spider-man movie and hoping it works

More than Spectacular? Lmao

The 90s Spider-Man.

Yes, because for one the designs didn't look like total anime garbage

>Spectacular Spider-man
>"look like total anime garbage"
Nigga what?

Mm yes, stuff like dyke Lois Lane MJ is so much more faithful

Didn't realize Spectacular could also be spelled as ITSV
Retard

I taught two Japanese boys ESL with Spectacular. Seeing the oldest laugh at the joke about the teacher not wanting Flash to be a study buddy was heartwarming.

The fact that people online gush about ITSV and the PS4 game, especially about them being faithful, tells me that there's far more zoomers who literally haven't read or seen anything Spider-Man related except the MCU movies than I imagined.

What's unfaithful about the PS4 game? The intro alone does a better job at encapsulating Peter's life than most of the fucking movies.

They're both much better than the vast majority of Spider-man comics anyway.

ITSV was good but Spectacular was one of the best series I have ever seen. Not a hardcore Spidey fan but I gotta say Spectacular is better.

They appear better because of the inherent qualities of their respective media, take away the animation of the movie and the interactivity of the game, make comic book adaptations of the stories depicted in them, and they're barely on the "painfully mediocre" mark for Spider-Man comics. I'd put ITSV even lower since multiverses are a cheap gimmick but that's just me.

This is full-on cap. Hilarious that you draw a comparison between PS4 and MCU. I feel, at this point, like this post is probably a joke.

Both the PS4 game and its comic adaptions were pretty good story wise. Not perfect, but significantly better than a lot of the schlock of recent years.

I like comics for different reasons than I like animation. I'm talking writing and story quality and at that the majority of Spider-man comics are pretty damn mediocre.
The game and spider-verse have stronger characterization with meaningful arcs, they're better structurally (though I will concede that is a weakness of the long form serial format but still a weakness) and thematic throughlines.

Probably Spectacular.
Both combine aspects of the franchise I enjoy and do interesting jobs of re-interpreting characters though.
I wish Sony had just kept the full rights and we got more Spectacular over the entire of Disneys run in retrospect.

They sold back the TV/toys rights to fund fucking TASM, they can never be redeemed

One's a 2 hour movie while the other is a long form 2 season show with 25+ episodes. It's still ITSV.

But they sort of were with the PS4 game. I mean yea, that was more Insomniac's doing since they did all the heavy lifting, but Sony was the one that made the deal and picked the team.

ITSV is a love letter to bendis not to the franchise. It’s a soulless movie with pretty animation that’s it

The PS4 game was nothing special, there's already five other games like it and the modern graphics don't mean shit when the universe looks bland as fuck

ITSV is shit. Spiderfags are so desperate for good content that they ate that garbage up.

What on Earth would compel someone to just go make a post where they clearly have no idea what they're talking about? Did you wake up and decide to do it, or did you just sort of wing it and end up here?

It was hardly bland looking

Let's see
>ITSV adapted a meme event and focused on cheap gimmick recolor characters
>made with the purpose of promoting a pretender
>written by a cheap kids' movie writer

>Spectacular adapted the core run and cast of ASM that launched the franchise into worldwide success
>fleshed out and polished the essential stories and characters
>Greg wrote for ASM and some of the most acclaimed animated shows ever

Tough choice
