Most Superman suit redesigns basically all copy the principles of Batman suit redesigns: lose the undies and darken the colors. However, that simply doesn’t work for Superman.
Color printers in the 1930s used blue, red, and yellow as their primary colors; the same way modern printers use cyan, magenta, and yellow. Superman wears a red, blue, and yellow suit so he’ll pop off the page, and seem bright and colorful compared to his surroundings. Superman in a dark suit loses that effect. Darkening the colors works for Batman, but that’s because he was always wearing pretty dark colors and hiding in shadows was his big thing. Turning Superman’s suit defeats the purpose.
Getting rid the the undies also works for Batman cause they made his costume solid black, and solid black is an acceptable outfit design. Look at Johnny Cash in his all black suit, he looks great. Look at clerical clothing. Look at tuxedos. Black top + black bottom works. All blue looks bad. The red trunks cuts him in half visually, he looks naked without them, like a ken doll

The electric blue look for Superman is actually a much better redesign than most other attempts. It keeps the principle of having his color be bright so he’ll pop off the page. In fact, he is mostly the modern primary color of cyan, just as how the original Superman suit was the primary color of blue. It uses white lightning streaks to break up the blue, thereby avoiding both the issue of him wearing underwear and the issue of him having a Ken Doll looking monocolor suit. It’s not perfect, but if you’re redesigning him anyway why not go all the way?

Here, if you could add said wrist cuffs and color the belt entirely it's actually very close to what I'm thinking of here. Maybe the belt also overall bigger in size, but only a bit-to-somewhat.
I see why a lot of people love the trunks, mind you. But ever since the Reborn costume and even the wrist cuffs being added come the initial Rebirth outfit, I really do think a good trunksless design exists out there, it's just finding out what it is.
