Animation's good, acting's good, characters are good, plot's a bit of a mess since they delay the main conflict as long as possible and a bunch of characters have completely unearned heel-face turns.

Honestly watching the behind the scenes special features makes it clear that balancing the "adventure" and "Atlantis" portions of the film is the hardest thing about the film. The version we got was probably too cut, but the version that was in production before they decided to compress the journey to Atlantis was just a series of "monster of the five minute segment" escapades that didn't really go anywhere.
Finally if I was in charge most of the production budget would go to costume design. Get Weta Workshop on the job or something.

Biggest mistake Disney made was remaking its best movies, when they should've remade stuff that deserve a second try, like Black Cauldron and Treasure Planet. It's why Disney's Jungle Book remake was the best of the bunch.
