Do you consider Orion or Superman as his main nemesis? I'm fine with Superman (does anyone know why Timm started that?) but I think Orion should still be the one to finish him whenever it happens
Darkseid

Orion.
Fuck superman and justice league writers for the damage they have done
Definitely not Superman, so Orion I guess.
I prefer Scott Free
>Superman
when was that even the case in comics?
SSoV was the victory against Darkseid. FC is Endgamesque fanservice.
At this point I consider Perpetua to be Darkseid's main nemesis after how little Orion matters in the New 52 and onwards, and after how badly they explained why Darkseid can't stomp Earth-0 when he's canonically murdered Justice League across the multiverse while conquering universes and desolating them down to the metaphysical levels and driving Heaven back into retreat.
No New 52, "they're younger and crazier" is not an actual answer.
Tom King killed any hope of Scott getting a victory over Darkseid that actually means anything in his series
Orion is literally his nemesis.
>I consider Perpetua
You should not finish this sentence with anything except a version of "Noncanon idiocy".
...
>No New 52, "they're younger and crazier" is not an actual answer.
The Kirby New Gods were the facet of the New Gods that could be perceived by the people of Earth-1 before the Crisis. After COIE, they changed a little bit into the New Gods of Starlin / Byrne because the universe changed, so the 'colors' of the 'facet' shifted. Then SSoV and Final Crisis came and they REALLY changed due to some heavy shit with Darkseid dying, which, apparently, meant he was shattered. He is still rebuilding himself after falling through mortal reality, and since he was the last surviving New God that is happening to all of them. The New 52 versions are the 'shard' of the New Gods that will become the facet of their being perceived in the universe of Earth-0 after the situation stabilizes, but it could take millennia for that to happen.
You could not use Mister Miracle as his nemesis (a specific term which means 'one who is destined to kill you') without being reminded of Tom King's shitfest.
...This also means something like Final Crisis was happening in each of the 52 universes, although Earth-0 was ground zero (sic).
Snyder sells and I've seen less than no reason his shit won't be kept around because DC is pretty damn desperate for money these days. People moaned about Superboy Prime. People moaned about what DC did to Kirby's New Gods long, long before Final Crisis.
At this point I've lost all hope in avoiding the inevitable. Fuck it Perpetua is here to stay and is simultaneously more and less powerful than the Presence, whatever I'm still confident Darkseid will end up on top long after Death Metal totals her. Not for any logical reason, just because I also know even though Snyder sells Darkseid's still DC's most iconic villain along with Joker so they'll put him in more shit yet to come.
You misunderstand, I wasn't talking about the New Gods being young and crazy
I was talking about the New 52's terrible explaination for why /the Justice League of Earth-0/ beat Darkseid when countless other Justice Leagues on different Earths were slaughtered by him, seemingly personally.
Orion. Superman has plenty of alien conquerors and monsters that he can beat down on already, making Darkseid just another one on that list cheapens him and his whole shtick. He should be reserved as an opponent for Orion and the New Gods and/or the Justice League who acts through proxies and gran plans before revealing himself.
Scott's nemesis should be Granny Goodness, the source of his childhood torment and the real power behind the slavery on Apokolips. Darkseid doesn't give a shit about Granny's pet project beyond what it originally offered him diplomatically, which he now no longer possesses.
This. The way that one Dark Multiverse version of Blackest Night alone makes me want Scott Free to have as little as possible to do with Darkseid in the future, because for all intents and purposes Darkseid WON in the Tom King story.
...has there EVERY been a major story about Scott Free fighting Granny in particular? Feels like even back in the old day Mr. Miracle's metaplot was building up to a throwdown with Darkseid.
He didn't even win that one. First round in the 1996 series he basically ran away from all the bullshit between New Genesis and Apokolips. Second round in Death of the New Gods he upped and lost the will to live after going crazy from using the Anti-Life Equation in his head over and over again, then finding out the Source sent Infinity Man on a New God killing spree.
As far as individual runs or storylines are concerned, I can't recall any from memory.
The closest I can think of is his episode in JLU where he's kidnapped by Granny and J'onn, Flash, Barda and Oberon go and rescue him. There's even flashbacks to his past there as a child.
The higher order manichean 4th World thing starts to break down when other writers realise they aren't nearly creative enough to explain how the likes of Granny Goodness interacts with the physical universe as a cosmic being.
Or you know, have to admit Kalibak is always using only 1% of his power when he's being trashcanned by random Leaguers or the Hellbat or whatever
Superman vs Darkseid.
Blast Apocalype
Orion since both of them have the "Tiger Force"
Darkseid's nemesis is the Highfather. The two guys mirror each other in Kirby's writing, and they both encompass their respective sides and direct the ultimate fight against each other.
As for who should be the agent of his downfall, it should be Orion and Scott together. Maybe a couple of other gods as well. Orion should be the one to deliver the final blow, but getting there should be a collaborative effort.
>this is a Spider-Man manga
>currently it's literally canon there is some sort of destructive, uncontrollable called Anti-Life buried in Earth-616 (Valkyrie: Jane Foster, #8-9)...
Fuck, forgot my pic.
But that's not all. Thor (2020) #2 introduced a thing called the Black Winter which is apparently responsible for destroying Galactus' original reality. And just like the story all but screamed it killed a version of the Justice League...
...they also did everything possible to imply it's Darkseid somehow
>why /the Justice League of Earth-0/ beat Darkseid
Same reason, the new 52 'facet' of Darkseid is weaker than the original because of the changed circumstances.
This version is not the inheritor of a dynasty of evil gods ruling over a planet that is Hell but a former dirt farmer.
Another example. Darkseid saying 'please'?
>that one Dark Multiverse version of Blackest Night alone
Wait,what? Did I miss something?
Darkseid is old news, OP.
That's no Hypercrisis stuff, user.
Orion and Darkseid , both second sons, have this terrible destructive power and the attitude for pure violence to unleash it on their enemies.
Regardless of Cates's Thor, hope he doesn't fuck it up, i need that kirby's world grandscale after Cuck King killed it.
Anti-Life, dark destruction.... Yes, that is an apt description of a team-up of Aaron and Cates
Truly this is the darkest timeline
It's this guy.
>Orion and Darkseid , both second sons, have this terrible destructive power and the attitude for pure violence to unleash it on their enemies.
Yup.
That's mindboggling considering THIS Darkseid is strong enough to systemtically destroy the Green, Red and Rot, destroy the source of all souls, leave a whole universe desolate, have conquered and consumed many OTHER universes, and drive Heaven into retreat. Seriously, Justice League made a point of saying Earth-0 was the first time Darkseid had ever been prevented from conquering a world, ever. Constantine #22 offered a mage's eye view of his Earth 2 invasion, and it was somehow even worse than the assbeating it's mortal heroes got.
Which implies the ragtag, very untested Justice League back then might've DRIVEN BACK HEAVEN if they needed to.

Nothing that will ever matter to the parts of DC I care about
Sad to say I've been following Cates' Thor, and Thor is being a real impulsive whiny petty jerk who can be hurt with thrown rocks despite having cosmic powers, and hauls off on based Beta Ray Bill for asking polite questions like "why are you murdering planets to feed to Galactus?"
>Wait,what? Did I miss something?
Nekron posses a Darkseid's avatar
I would've much preferred seeing Darkseid scavenge and put on Anti-Monitor's armor than the retarded DBZ fusion we got in Justice League Super
>Some think Darkmass sought to remake it into the reality we live in now
>Darkseid wants to turn DC into Marvel
Sounds legit
>scavenge and put on Anti-Monitor's armor
Which does exactly nothing. It's just his life-shell.
Or am I wrong? There was no indication in the COIE that it was anything else than a 'presence around him'.
Ugh... so the JLA beat super-Darkseid on their first outing. I am starting to see what you mean.
