There are plenty things to enjoy in life, as long as you don't focus on just the bad or you're living under a bridge. The MCs problem was that they focused on what their enjoyment in life was, not on what his are. And don't tell me it was his wife and kids that left him, bullshit, he was living fine before they came into his life.
No.
yes the prequels are shit and internet contrarians are dumbasses
The only mistake Plinkett ever made was his son.
I think time has vindicated Rian to some extent. At the very least, RoS proved you could sink even lower, in my opinion.
He had some good ideas, but was clearly the wrong choice for a numbered sequel. If they had given him a standalone it would have been fucking great.
Better question is:
Was Wall Guy in the wrong?
Yes
No. He rightfully pointed out various problems with sloppy scripts and Hollywood cynicism, but he has a huge bias in favor of slick soulless "more of the same" pandering fodder like Star Trek 2009 and Force Awakens.
Making fun of George because he didn't know what a planet core is? Ok, fair enough. Saying the prequels were bad because a decadent galactic republic looked too clean and colorful, or that Jedis right before their tragic fall due to their own arrogance and dogmatism were too aloof is really dumb and are at least partially responsible for why George sold the IP to Disney.
Not really your business tho it is?
About the prequels? Yes.
About TFA? No.
About R1? No.
About TLJ? Yes.
About Star Wars? Mostly.
About Star Trek? Mostly.
About Dog Cop? Yes.
Plinkett's literally never been right about anything. You don't listen to autistic people with zero qualifications because they're obsessed with a thing, you listen to them when/if their arbitrary fixation happens to have manifested in an education or relevant independent studies background.
TFA is fucking Mary Sue fanfiction trash
>About R1? No.
Plinkette didn't even talk about about that piece of shit.
you can't invade someone's house and expect them to respect your privacy
sure, George
In terms of his character in that cartoon I forget the name of, Yes but he frames it in a half empty way instead of a half full way. The joys of life are being able to find those distractions and pleasures that make us forget the misery or pointlessness of it.
The one area I really disagree with them is with R1. They shit on it for member-berries and yet celebrated and appreciated TFA even though it was oversaturated to no end with member berries. R1's nostalgia is a brief cameo of vader and Leia, a bit of Moff Tarkin, and many-bothans-have-died-for-this-info chick + the planet Luke takes off from. Fucking TFA's nostalgia is Han, Leia, C3PO, Chewie, Millenium Falcon, Luke at the end, pseudo-trench run on a planet death star, fucking not-tatooine in all but name. You can replace Moffy, Vader, Leia, bothans chick and the rebel alliance planet and R1 hardly changes. You take out any of the TFA member berries save Jakku and the plot dramatically changes.
In what fucking planet is TFA less of a nostalgia trip than Rogue one?
By giving the character the obnoxious Plinkett voice, I just wanted to see him blow his brains out.
I think it's more that time vindicated Lucas, if anything. It's like Halloween 3, for decades it was the butt of jokes and a 'What the hell was up with that?' movie that the original writer had his name removed from it because he didn't want to be associated with it, but after so many Halloween follow-ups and reboots, and only 2 or 3 of 'em being any good and the rest being terrible, people now appreciate Halloween 3 for at least having some originality. Same with the prequels, for all their flaws there was more heart, passion, creativity, better music and better stories than most of what Disney's put out. I think that, if anything, TLJ's reputation has only gotten worse over time, as people are accepting that's where Disney shot themselves in the foot and Disney themselves think so, if the scene with Luke's Force Ghost in TROS is anything to go by.
I honestly have no idea why they threw a shit fit over it. It's set in right before the original film and deals with the events that proceeded it, why the fuck wouldn't vehicles and figures be involved? Yeah there was stupid shit like Dr. Evazan and Ponda Baba having that stupid cameo, but does that really stop Ultra Super Mega Death Star or the training remote just lying around in the Falcon or the holo-chess just turning on for no reason?
Ok but what about this?
The ant?
It's TFA's reputation which I think will go down hill more than anything. People still mostly liked it despite being a remake of ANH (which personally I don't find hard to get over because it's still a fun ride) but now knowing that it ultimately lead nowhere it's just like...why bother? TLJ at least tried (and failed by a shitton) to do something different.
>"Well it's kinda cool, but it doesn't make me feel any better."
Yeah.
Every time I think about the Disney trilogy, I come to the conclussion that Rise of Skywalker was the worst movie of the series, yet it's The Last Jedi's fault it came out like that. At the very least Attack of the Clones didn't undo two movies' effords and world building in one fell swoop.
It's pretty cool, I guess... Doesn't make me feel any better.
I think more than anything it was Fisher's death and them trying to make the unused footage of her work that killed the film. I commend them for trying it, there was no path for working around her passing which would've flowed naturally but it just doesn't work.
TLJ paid JJ's mystery box setups as much respect as they deserved. It's not even like Rian threw out JJ's ideas. There were no ideas because JJ was just asking questions that were originally someone else's job to answer.
TFA's reputation started going down when TLJ came out. People were rewatching that and deciding they had over praised it, and now that the trilogy is done its legacy has been sullied even further. Even I Hate Everything, who sucked that movie off big time and made an ass of himself defending the Disney Trilogy before TROS came out, admitted it was a rehash of ANH.
>TFA's reputation started going down when TLJ came out.
I know that. I'm saying it's going to go down even further. And imo TFA being a rehash of ANH isn't inherently what makes it a bad film even if it's really predictable. The shots of the X-wings flying over the water on that one planet are still some of the most memorable SW imagery.
I hate the mystery box's setup as well, but let's face it, anything would have been more satisfying than what we got.
Leia should have died in TLJ. It would have been more impactful and let more time in the sequel for more things to develop.
When she died they really should have just reshot TLJ to leave her dead and then use her talk with Luke as a Force Vision he has. It honestly wouldn't be that hard considering her minimal screen time in TLJ. I honestly have no idea what the hell they were thinking leaving the character alive for the next movie after she passed. Iger should have ordered a reshoot and rewrite.
It becomes your business when he's living in your walls.
So...I mostly agree with this but the scene with Luke and Leia at the end is probably my favorite of the entire trilogy. It's maybe the most emotional I've ever gotten out of watching these movies and they're basically the closest thing I have to a religion.
My stool is dark, doctor says that's bad.
I don’t know why he thinks he knows so much about interior decorating though.
Phantom Menace has redeemable qualities, and the politics of the films actually does make sense, even Alex Jones could see that.

Mike didn't like the prequels because he's more a technical guy who looked at the prequels from production and editing standpoint and saw a cobbled-together mess, plot-wise, the prequels have a firm grounding.
Not sure why Jay doesn't like them but he probably dislikes them more from a stylistic point of view.
