I liked Sinestro better as a solo act. Like the GL Corps was 3600 of the ballsiest lifeforms in the galaxy and here's this one guy that can make them all a bit nervous.

They effectively don't, Sinestro doesn't even use his qwardian ring anymore now.

The emotional entities were such a waste of potential.

Teen(bootleg) Lantern is unironically a good concept.

I want to expand their origins a bit.
Maybe add Nekron into the mix since all emotions struggle with death in some way.

Would've had more of them possessing and fucking with hosts. And depending on their mood they either take full control or fuck around where the host is still in control but thinks they're going insane with all the emotion they're feeling, and don't remember why.

You might have to enlighten a clueless user, such as myself about this. Only one I see is on the nose is snake being avarice, the bull (red no less!) being anger and the octopus being compassion because tentacles spread out everywhere is suppose to draw symbolism to how compassion spreads.

The Black Lantern entity should never be shown, only hinted at, just like the Nothing in the Never-ending Story.

Parallax and Nerkon are the only ones left. The others got eaten by the Source Wall in some bullshit retcon event that the use of the emotional spectrum will kill the universe.

Physical embodiment of the emotion they represent. Many sit in a big battery being siphoned off by each corp to power their shit. Can they be killed? Technically no, but shitty writing can do anything. Even create such dumb things in the first place.

why is sadness not an emotion?

People argue it's because the entities are all from feelings that can motivate not hinder. Fear can get your ass in gear, willpower can get your ass in gear, anger, love, greed, compassion, ect. Sadness and happiness on it's face can't really, but honestly wording in any way you could argue it could. Another argument against it is that the entities were formed from when the first beings from the white entity came into being and felt those feelings. Happiness and sadness are older than that because of Sandman level shenanigans, but that argument is mostly fanservice and Gaiman wanking.

Overall the answer is: It's dumb, it's bad writing, sad is already a motivator for death and anger, and there are only 7 colors. That's why they are adding all sorts of other nonvisable and otherworldly lanterns, like the Phantom Lantern, radio lantern, UV Lantern, and the Emag Lantern and shit like that. Same is going for the Speedforce with all the other forces they are adding in for that. Saw in passing the other day there is another new one, IIRC Bendis, is pushing out too in the Tremor of the MK ninja color scheme of Lanterns.

I wouldn't call it bad writing. Because you're right, sadness wouldn't be a power source to drive anyone. They'd just roll over and die

Because sadness fuels the other emotions.
Red lanterns become red lanterns because they want to avenge their loved ones.
Greed leads to sadness/loneliness or trying to stuff the void with material items.
Middle 3 don't count?
Compassion comes from feeling sadness for another person.
Star Sapphires are often recruited when they face a big loss, the violet light fills the void in their hearts. Johns said the rings look for those who have faced great heartbreak. Like Miri Riam after her husband got killed by Mongul.

The only good thing that ever came from the war of light and all followup shenanigans was Saint Walker and the GL cartoon. Everything else is shit writing and a crisis level custerfuck that even after 10+ years still has ongoing ramifications that is the majority of the comics content. And more bad writers keep tacking shit on like Bendis that keeps the festering corpse alive. God help you if you think anything related to GL in the past decade isn't shit writing.

Apparently he's the gold Lantern. With the power of being a minority who probably just happens to look like one of Bendis family members!
