It's not about the animals' feelings, it's about the effect on the environment of eating commercially produced meat. It necessitates massive amounts of monoculture crops and likely fertilizer runoff that fucks up nearby ecosystems. It takes 12 pounds of grain to make one pound of feedlot beef. That's a lot of dead plants. If she's mad about that, she'd be more likely to destroy the factory farm than buy their product.

While she might take that into account, she's not strict about that and she's willing to drive cars, live in houses, use electricity and other utilities, and generally participate in modern society that destroys nature.

It's about her gut feeling when seeing a dead raw plant versus seeing a dead animal. She cares about the plant but not the animal, same way you might not want to eat a cleaned raw bunny carcass but you'd be willing to eat a cleaned raw carrot.
