I disagree, I don't think there should be an overabundance on the amount of gags in road runner shorts. It defeats the purpose and the pacing would be awful.

Abundance no, balance yes. These things are structured like songs, 3-7 jokes of different length and complexity work because they play off each other in the edit. It's a timing thing! Would you write a song that is only one verse?

The shorts they are homaging usually had multiple gags.
I believe it is, at least for Road Runner/Coyote cartoons. Would appreciate it more if the animation were better timed and had more frames per second.

Given the way it’s structured I wouldn’t be surprise if it’s really just one scene from a longer short.
The funny thing about the platonic ideal of a Road Runner short is how you can basically just string together a whole bunch of random scenes and it’ll basically work
