Why did they replace the voice actors in Scoob? Scooby Doo already has star power, nothing would change if they got the current VA's to play their parts.
Why did they replace the voice actors in Scoob? Scooby Doo already has star power...
Studios think DreamWorks cynicism = instant success, when that just isn't true.
It's still a little fucking weird they decided Welker gets to play scooby but not fred. Like, I get why, but also, why the fuck is this an option to begin with?
Money. It's way cheaper to hire a young upstart than entitled old man
Studio was probably thinking "We're a real movie, we need REAL actors to be in and promote our theatrically released movie", I assume.
Why are so many upset over this? It's not like the Scoob voice actors will replace the TV/DVD voice actors, it's just for this movie
I like that he talks how I imagine Shaggy would talk.
This happens a lot and is probably the case.
I get that with efron but do people really care about Will Forte?
>Will Forte (age 49)
>Matthew Lillard (age 50)
Here's your you I guess
It took me a long time to get used to Welker Scooby, because i already got attached to Messick's.
Based boomer
This. Hollywood is a weird clique.
Because to the suits, celebrity power is ALWAYS better. Doesn't matter how well the movie is already guaranteed to do, they always want that little extra potential profit.
except its even weird considering the live action scooby doo movies are more legitimate by virtue of being a live action movie.
It's VOD now, so it was a waste
Frank Welker: Scooby-Doo; Fred; Dynomutt
Mathew Lillard: Shaggy
Grey DeLisle: Daphne
Mindy Cohn: Velma
George Lowe: Blue Falcon
Jim Cummings: Dick Dastardly; Captain Caveman
Billy West: Muttley
Vernee Watson-Johnson: Dee Dee
This cast would've saved the movie.
It's really bizarre to me that the live action Shaggy was so good he got to take over after Casey Kasem passed on
>Mindy Cohn: Velma
Kate Mucci is her new voice now
Fuck off zoomer
Yeah, and she sucks. Mindy Cohn isn't even retired.
>over 20 years
>first voiced Daphne in 2001
What did she mean by this?
>All these people complain about Scooby Doo voice actors
>Nobody bats an eye when Jeff Bergman lost his role as Bugs Bugs to Eric Bauza despite voicing him since 1990
Why are Zoomers like this?
>"20" years? But you only voiced her for 19! HA!
Do people seriously give flying fuck about celebs voicing characters in cartoons to the point where they'll go out of their way to see it because X was in the film? That seems like such a ridiculously stupid mindset to me.
She was Bergman's understudy, that's why she got the job so fast
The short answer is no, but the longer answer is that there's a chance a name that could be recognized will make a percentage of people pay attention to a trailer they might not have given the time of day to otherwise
It's a shit thing to do, imagine if they cast celebrities to voice the Simpsons Family or SpongeBob and Friends in their respective movies
*student not understudy
Release date != production date
I'm not even a scooby doo fan but the guy they got to do shaggy is the fucking worst shaggy ever.
Because these studios are run by people who do finance math, not creatives. These are people who do not trust opinions, nor do they have opinions of their own, because they don't watch movies. I'm not joking.
>Creative: I have this great script for a Scooby movie, but I'll need $50 million
>Exec: I'll give you $85 million, but that extra money comes at the expense of creative decisions because we have benchmarks to hit.
>Market research: Will Forte has 30% higher name recognition than Matthew Lillard
>Legal: This will also satisfy our existing contract with him.
>Investor: Will there be a superhero in this? We should add one, and also 25% more explosions.
>Creative: if I make all these changes, can I get my pet project greenlit?
>Exec: Sure.
>Creative: I'll do it.
It's an ugly game, but they have to play it. You know what happens when they don't? Movies like Popeye get cancelled.
Popeye is back
Will Forte voice doesn't suit Shaggy's voice, such a bad fit. At least get a hollywood actor that fits that voice.
