Bad press and just having to compete with darling TTG. Not sure how many kids it actually appeals to, and the adults are either pissed, upset, or not interested. Kids love seeing action shows and if they had to choose between seeing the girls use constructs and a shonen anime featuring actual punches, they’d probably choose the latter

Sadly the rest of the series was animated with GoAnimate, the characters looked as static as pictures

They ditched action and comedy in exchange for activism and memes that did not survive for a year.
The animation was atrocious. Putting girls in school and focusing there is also stupid.

Badly written, badly animated, doesn't know if it wants to be a reboot or a continuation, etc. People will complain about politics but that's the least of the problems with this show.

I think the biggest problem is that it is very clear that many of the staff behind it were not fans of the original whatsoever, and overall have no passion for the reboot. I would actually rather watch a Zombie Simpsons episode over PPG 2016.

SU isn't really "woke" in the usual sense. Most of the stuff in-universe isn't praised for being brave or special, it just exists as a normal thing. That's probably why it succeded while most "woke" things didn't come to think of it.

What I think is the most fuck up thing is the SUF finale pushing Connie's little, "IT'S NOT. ABOUT. YOU!" speech. It's so fucking unhealthy to tell people that they should feel guilty for putting their own emotions before someone else's. The idea that self-preservation is somehow "wrong" or that you're not allowed to be emotionally affected by events because, "THAT PERSON IS SUFFERING MOOOORE" is just more oppression Olympics propaganda.

There's a reason why people who have spouses that are diagnosed with cancer have their own grief groups. You need to be able to take care of yourself in order to take care of others. SUF just pushed this idea that Steven makes all these emotional sacrifices for people and now they need to do it right back for him instead of everyone needs to learn how to take care of themselves first and foremost before they can support you.

But then again, this show propped up co-dependency as a wonderful relationship, so it's really fucked anyway.
