What is the appeal of this character? Every time I come across her she comes off like a huge cunt.
Captain Marvel
>Every time I come across her she comes off like a huge cunt.
She pretty much is. Hell she was complicit in the kidnapping of a child from their mother during civil war, said mother being Carol's former friend which she beat the ever living fuck out of in front of the kid. I mean I know the civil war arc was one giant character assassination fest but goddamn.
I want Power Girl to swallow Carol.
She is the cuntiest of cunts. But she used to be our cunt. Now she's some feminist postergirl, so she's just a cunt.
I liked Carol before she was blacked now she has a lot characters problems
I always liked the idea of her being a warning to other heroes of what they could potentially become without many morals
Carol is a person who values her ideals over ethics
While not to the absurd extent that she is today, Carol had asshole tendencies all the way back to her Ms Marvel days.
To laugh at how terrible everything around her is.
To beat up "muh Nazis". Like come on, you would get the Nazi lore if you went to an early German Worker's Party meeting just before Hitler came along.
Which is rich. Carol is by far the most fascist of the Marvel heroes.
Carolthread!
What if Captain Marvel was actually Gay Asian Retarded Thick Hitler aka GARTH.
She used to be interesting back when she was Ms Marvel, she was always a feminist character but one fine with being sexy and had a lot of problems, she was in charge of a feminist magazine, also despite being very powerful she was never depicted as the "super powerful character that does nothing wrong and you don't want to fight"
Now she has a new backstory that's a mix of Superman and Aquaman that turn her into a "chosen one" because her mom was a Kree, there's also a Kree Empress that was never mentioned before, Carol also has a lot of fans, she has a Batcave now that was never mentioned before, she's so powerful that te Black Order is scared of fighting her and she can defeat Black Dwarf with one punch, you know, the same Black Dwarf that was killed by the combined effort of the Annihilators.
>Now who in the hell was that?
That was Joe of course
She's the best and most well-rounded character in the Marvel universe
anime Carol is kakkoii
Imagine if Kamala vored Carol
Some people like self inserting as huge cunts
I'd love Carol and Kamala space adventures. Hell I'd take a R&M style parody
She didn't kidnap Rachel aka the kid. Julia was trying to take her to canada despite being a felon responsible for larceny, hospitalizing numerous people (agents and citizens).
Carol was trying to get her family to safety, but was doing it with their consent and rachel didn't leave the premises that day (In fact you could make a case that julia was abducting her daughter since she had no custody at the time)
Julia then brought her daughter out to watch while she tried to beat carol (even though there was no need to bring her daughter out). Carol had to take her down because julia was endangering her kid.
Ultimately carol realized she crossed a line, and reunited Julia with her daughter
>Ultimately carol realized she crossed a line
I don't get it, how she crossed a line?
Hurting julia and her family in the way she did even if she thought it may have been for the best at time. Basically in her words "I took someone's mommy away from them".
Ironically, julia kidnapped her daughter from her parents again, and carol then had to help sort that out legally so she can be with her daughter without endangering her.
But you just said in the same comment she was defending herself and following the law since she was the one legally kidnapping the kid.
It's the writer trying to paint a "grey area" when there wasn't one at all. Civil War is a pretentious garbage comic with forced conflicts.
I'm giving carol's perspective, rather than mine. She felt she crossed a line there. To someone more legal minded she did everything by the book and was correct (like Wonder-man or Tony) and that julia was wrong (like her parents). To Carol and anya corazon they felt the emotional cost of doing it was too much and they felt they had to rectify that.
This one was well written imo.
Marvel needed their own Wonder Woman, and with every other popular heroine either being an offshoot of a male or part of a team whose films rights were owned by Fox, they picked Carol. But Carol’s history is complex and strange, and she is still technically a leftover from a male hero, so when bestowing her with the Captain Marvel title, they elected to rewrite her personality all together. Trouble is, they’re so market conscious that they don’t know how to writer her as sweet and vulnerable without compromising her status as strongwoman (tm) so they just write her like one would a Batman type, except without any of the actual development to back it up, she just comes off as a bitch.
The biggest character assassination of this debacle was actually Julia's parents.
>she was always a feminist character but one fine with being sexy
I suspect you might be young enough to realize this statement was the norm for 1970s feminism.
Coming out of the conservative 50s, women in the 60s and 70s were aware of the power of their sexuality and more open to using it. Early feminism was sex-positive.
Today's feminism shifted to the polar opposite, a sex-negativity, largely over two factors: many modern feminists simply aren't sexy but rather rotund so rejecting sex-positivity is no loss to them, they didn't possess it anyways. And two, there is a growing concern that men were benefiting from sex-positive women - women would wear short skirts to "fight the patriarchy" and men would go, ok, we're perfectly fine with that, wanna make it even shorter?"
1970s Carol's costume was feminist, for the time. 2018's Carl Manvers design was feminist, for the time.
>Hell she was complicit in the kidnapping of a child from their mother during civil war, said mother being Carol's former friend which she beat the ever living fuck out of in front of the kid.
Were Carol and Julia friends? They may have met at some of those events where every Avenger appeared, but not sure they'd ever spoken to each other before Civil War.
