It's weird because for most of her existence there's never been any indication that she was older than Batman and Superman, and in the Perez reboot it was explicit that she was even younger than them.
There was of course the angle that she wouldn't age as fast, like Superman, but never that she was an ancient being.
Then all of the sudden in the last few years, pretty much starting around the movie, they've been pushing that she's like thousands of years old, which just seems like a totally pointless change to me since she was isolated to the island that whole time anyway, plus she's the only Amazon who actually grew up on the island from childhood so it just seems like a stupid change and something someone like Johns decided to push.
