Nothing is supposed to beat Lovecraftian gods. That's part of the setting. If they something can win then it is not a proper portrayal.
DID YOU ASSUME ITS GENDER SHITLORD?!
/thread
Yes, Aquaman and Etrigan beat one of those shits
this
but am also sick of powerlevelfags jerking themselves off to lovecraft. if you do that, you've also missed the point
Didn’t you make this exact thread already
Once again, trying to apply powerlevel faggotry to these stories is retarded
Thats funny cause in call of cthulu, ye old tentacle boy gets rekt by a fucking boat.
Azathoth has as much a gender as Yog-Sothoth does.
Silver Key literally has Umr-At-Tawil speaking with multiverse-annihilating force, and Lesser Archetypes eating multiverses. Dream Quest has Nyarly's Hunting Horrors tanking whole collapsing multiverses as they hunt Carter, and only being destroyed when Nodens interven3s. Most of the expanded stuff from the rest of the Lovecraft Circle features similar cosmic stuff.
Whilst powerlevels aren't the point to the Mythos, they are very much present.
Cthulhu is to even the lowliest weakest of the weakest weak Outer God what humans are to Cthulhu. Less than a lone protein microbe. Being generous to Cthulhu.
technically azathoth is meant to be something similar to the primordial chaos that existed before anything existed. entropy is making sure everything goes back to azathoth, so it can't be defeated
Yeah, people ALWAYS mention that every single time. But Cthulhu never actually dies, he just fucks off back to sleep. He doesn't even give a shit about humans. And Cthulhu is the most minuscule baby god ever, even though he's above humans and normal ayy lmaos, the highest Lovecraftian Gods can wipe out millions of universes just by thinking about it and there's an infinite amount of them. Especially like Yog-Sothoth who is supposed to embody all of existence and has full control over it.
You're still missing the point. Azathoth is the end all be all to these retards, maybe even moreso than Superman.
But just like Superfags, the meaning of the work itself is twisted on its head in what ultimately amounts to a useless dick-waving contest.
Funny, since I don't see Azathoth brought up much in these kinds of threads. It's usually Cthulhu, or at most, Nyarlathotep. And in general, Lovecraftfags are way less obsessively annoying than Superfags.
The point I was making is that whilst powerlevels weren't necessarily the point of what Lovecraft and his circle set out to do, thry very much informed the cosmology and hammered home just how inferior everything truly is compared to the Gods, and how said Gods are in turn completely infintismal before Azathoth.
This nonsense is part of why I prefer Clarke Ashton Smith
The other part is the story where an earthguy gets an ayy lmao waifu
OP and his ilk are faggots
>coomer faggot is a retard with bad taste
Like pottery.
Superman Thought Robot could do it.
I mean despite being on apparently equal footing when the Presence told the Darkness one side it did as told.
To answer the OP question: No. Azathoth is far, far beyond the scales capeshit plays at. Even the mindless lesser servitor gods that play flutes in his court incidentally create whole infinite multiverses as a result of their playing, and would be entirely beyond DC on their lonesome. I'd argue that just by the original cosmology alone, even some random GOO could pull this off.
And if we included the expanded stuff (which we can so long as it doesn't blatantly contradict established cosmology, as Lovecraft very much implored his circle to add what they wanted to the mythos), then the gong-ringing in Kull gives it a Dark Tower style meta-cosmology.
The Outer Gods honestly shouldn't be used in vs debates because they're simply too overpowered, let alone Azathoth. It's like putting the Downstreamers against Star Trek in terms of how onesided it is.

Could nyarly be beaten?
Why? Overmonitor doesn't do anything.
Granted, it's more of an off-site issue, but it does happen.
Otherwise, I agree with you.
Nothing can.
Dick Dastardly kinda did in that Ennis book, Dastardly and Muttley
You could have just said Azathoth is technically unbeatable because he himself is the dreamer and everything else is just the dream. The only way to "win" is to keep him from waking up.
You're right though, the question is a stupid one. It's like asking "who would win, superman or his author?".
Nyarly is the heart and soul of the Outer Gods. He isn't an individual entity of his own, and is basically their will made manifest. Even his Hunting Horrors in Dream Quest could tank collapsing universes and multiverses and were only stopped because Nodens deleted them. In one expanded universe story, he represents and embodies the Branes between multiverses, and can edit and delete thrm as he pleases.
He CAN be tricked, but that only happened with Randolph Carter. Who's an avatar of Yog-Sothoth, who is far superior to the Crawling Chaos.
>Implying DC hasn't beaten dozens of multiverse eating monsters already
It's really pathetic how much of a bitter hard-on horrorfags have for powerlevel autism. It's even more pathetic than DBZfags and Seiyafags.
Actually, the whole thing with everything being Azathoth's dream is a fan misconception. It's a combination of a misinterpretation of a phrase from Fungi from Yuggoth, association with MANA-YOOD SUSHAI, and probably a number of other things. The whole "dreams infinite multiverses into being" is actually a feat for one of his *flute-players*, one of the lesser servitor gods working to placate him with music. Whilst Azathoth is certainly asleep in some sense, he's not the one dreaming everything into existence, which is done by things far inferior to him.
Despite this, Azathoth is still the greatest thing in the cosmology. He's treated as the ultimate progenitor and ruler of all the Outer Gods/Archetypes, with even Yog-Sothoth as the Supreme Archetype still counting itself as just one of the many Archetypes. Azathoth itself is implied to be something else entirely, and all the Outer Gods are terrified at the mere possibility of it waking, with the infinite multiverses being an incidental result of keeping it satiated. It's unknown what Azathoth would actually DO if it wakes, but guesses range from it eating everything, to something we can't even fathom.
The fan on ironically made it weaker if anything.
>And now the BEING was addressing the Carter-facet in prodigious waves that smote and burned and thundered—a concentration of energy that blasted its recipient with well-nigh unendurable violence, and that followed, with certain definite variations, the singular unearthly rhythm which had marked the chanting and swaying of the Ancient Ones, and the flickering of the monstrous lights, in that baffling region beyond the First Gate. It was as though suns and worlds and universes had converged upon one point whose very position in space they had conspired to annihilate with an impact of resistless fury. But amidst the greater terror one lesser terror was diminished; for the searing waves appeared somehow to isolate the beyond-the-gate Carter from his infinity of duplicates—to restore, as it were, a certain amount of the illusion of identity. After a time the hearer began to translate the waves into speech-forms known to him, and his sense of horror and oppression waned. Fright became pure awe, and what had seemed blasphemously abnormal seemed now only ineffably majestic.
>It was as though
>Number of Multiverses destroyed: 0
>Number of Carters destroyed: 0
It's the horrofag version of Goku shaking the universe. A lot of hype, not much substance.
Shiki can kill Azathoth. Discuss.
>t.
Can someone tell me when Azathoth became the fucking Red King? Nothing in HP Lovecraft canon ever implied that beyond a similarity to him being lullled by musicians like MANA from Gods of Pegana who actually is what fanboys THINK Azathoth is. If there was an ultimate power to the canon, it was the Yog-Sothoth, or more precisely, Yog-Sothoth as the Great Archetype.
Mystic Eyes only works if the thing she's trying to kill has lines to cut, and she still needs to physically cut those lines. Can't do shit if some random lesser Archetype turns off sentience for her multiversal cluster.
See . Even though it's not actually dreaming everything into being, which is a task it's flute players perform, Azathoth is still very much treated as being the top of the cosmology in the OG Mythos.
The earliest explicit pseudo-canonization of the whole "ends the multiverse if he wakes up" was the CoC RPG I think.
...
>I don't care how many author avatars and giant cosmic monsters that eat multi/omni/meta/hyperverses the heroes beat, they CANNOT beat my fan conception of a character briefly mentioned in passing during one of Randolph Carter's hasher dreams.
MANA-YOD-SUSHAI is what horrorfags actually think Azathoth is and it's a damn shame since he can actually walk the walk they think Azathoth does and was written before Azathoth.
