Now that the dust has settled; Is Harley Quinn (in any media) truly more interesting as an independent villainess / anti-hero vs being Jokers abused girlfriend / sidekick? Because somehow it doesn’t feel that way right now.

Harley is being written by people (women) who don't understand her character at all. They think she's a Bella or whoever the fuck the chick in 50 Shades was, except also crazy so her wacky self can go do things and have lesbians with Poison Ivy.
Harley was a mediocre psychiatrist who went nuts trying to treat Joker. She was supposed to be obsessed with Joker because the second she'd stop, she'd get her marbles back.

the progression from sidekick to her own villain is interesting as if it was Robin becoming his own hero called Nightwing.
But Harley works better not as a Deadpool wank but as a street level vigilante

My biggest problem with modern Harley is that, without the Joker, she has NO deniability for her actions, her reasoning for doing what she's doing is either "because I want to" or "because fuck you, i'm crazy" because of this it makes it really hard to understand the motives behind her character, and as such new writers keep on formulating stranger and stranger character motivations for her

yes, you can't have Harley hang around a mass murderer Joker, it ruins both characters. it worked in BTAS because Joker couldn't kill anyone in a children's show.

the more Joker kills the more Harley has to pull her own weight and we end up with shit like her killing all those kids in New 52 Suicide Squad.

that's just the genre DC has pigeon holled Harley into, obviously someone up the food chain there has a hard on for the Amanda Conner book. Also it's an excuse to move Harley away from the heavier stuff you'll see in Suicide Squad.

Don't care. I'm dropping the show once they kill off Kite Man.

So never?

It's fucking funny because you can't literally blame anything on The Joker now. It's all her. But of course everything gets swept under the rug and she's repeateadly toted as a good person.
And why the fuck is Nora Fries with them?

I genuinely don't think anyone was clamoring for independent villainess Harley Quinn and the show choosing to go that route is inexplicable for me.

She works best as an anti-hero being redeemed or reluctant villainess helping out against a bigger bad guy if you're going for a protagonist role for her. Fuck, even her being Joker's punching bag is fucking interesting, if not great fodder for her being a protagonist.

So, are they planning on getting the Suicide Squad in the show?

When? The show hasn't been renewed. Schumacker is literally begging the (Harlivy) fans to find someone willing to renew it, not even exaggerating.

In fact, I would genuinely rather watch a show about Dr. Harleen Quinzel-Isley post recovery just doing sitcom bullshit with villain patients.

>Now that the dust has settled
People will be bitching about this for years in both directions

that jew looking woman is gonna be jokers new gf isn't she

Excuse you.

Heyheyhey it's time for another anti-harley circlejerk thread which is in actuality is just a anti-women circlejerk thread.
>115248034
And already we have user blaming women for the way Harley is written on the show despite the writers largely being men who don't how to write women so they limit themselves to only writing two.

So you're pro-indepdendent woman Harley then.

Yes, we all hate women. You can go.

oh christ female zimbabwe is gonna gonna play herself in this episode

They're discussing story structure

Are they though? Or are they just whining about women?

Comic Harley is actually pretty tolerable these days but Zig Forums doesn’t read anything and pretends she’s still the BoP/New 52 bullshit

The romance subplot is just boring. It's the same mistake all action series do, the audience doesn't give a shit about who's plowing who's holes.

Zig Forums doesn't read comic so they can't understand their problem with a character could be entirely dependent on who's writing the character.

>It's not shit, because in my delusional fantasy, THIS IS YOU and you DIDN'T READ IT
Fuck off, brand fanatic slave.

It's the only thing they're advertising now, they're onto something, i.e. only shippers give a shit (and it's true).

I've actually seen people in the threads saying the same. Comic Harley is getting better.

The writers, unconsciously, can't come to terms whether the characters should be villians or espouse and embodie the morals the writers believe in, while portraying those morals as those of a villian.

3 dimensional villain- I sometimes do things I don't agree with but I am regretful and believe there are extenuating circumstances.

2 dimensional villain- I have done nothing wrong. I'm in the right here! Who knows what is right anyway?

1 dimensional villain- Of course I am evil! I like being evil! If you don't want me to kill you, you ought to bow down and start begging.

0 brain villain-I am a bad guy, but if we all do bad things, then we are just plain bad people y'all!

Sit the fuck down. The Harley Quinn show is trash, as is Margret Robbie. However, Humphries’s Harley is actually quite an improvement, especially compared to the New 52 bullshit. You just want to pretend nothing has changed because she’s popular with casuals

Case in point: what's user even mad about when he's in these circlejerk thread?
Is he mad about the Harley quinn in the show? Don't blame the character, blame the laziest robot chicken writers behind it.
Is he mad about the Harley left the joker? Did he really expect writers to keep her trapped in a cycle of abuse? Is he mad that Harley is treated sympathetically, and which case is he mad about every time a supervillain acts chummy?

>Not insisting on 4 and 5 dimensional villains
