Usagi Yojimbo thread? What's your favorite story and why is it Taiko
I think Grasscutter II is very underappreciated. People tend to only talk about the excellent first part, but the "sequel" is also fantastic. And if we count single issue stories, then I choose The Patience of the Spider. Ikeda is an amazing character.
Daisho. Because he's just so insanely pissed off throughout that story and Fujii was a great villain.
I just want to say that the next 5 issues (from July onwards) are going to be insane. Just look at those previews:
>“Mon.” Long ago, Lord Hikiji defeated Usagi’s Lord Mifune to take control of the Northern Province. Usagi, still wears the mon of his former lord. But, there are those who threaten to kill any samurai loyal to Mifune. What happens when they come across Usagi?
>“The Return” Part 1 of 4. Usagi is back in his home province for a pilgrimage to his late lord’s gravesite. Now beaten and near death, he has made his way to the one place he had been avoiding—the village in which he grew up. Bittersweet memories awaken with his long-time love, until the village becomes embroiled in a plot to assassinate an emissary of the shogun.
>"The Return” Part 2 of 4. Usagi’s home village has been taken over by assassins intent on killing the shogun’s emissary to disgrace Lord Hikiji. With the emissary’s death will come retributions resulting in the death of the entire village. Usagi has to save the emissary but, in doing so, may have to save the reputation of the lord responsible for the death of his master.
Holy plot progression, Batman! Three issues ago Usagi asked his dead lord to be released from his vows and now this happens. And we may finally get a step closer to solving the Jotaro situation.
>Kenichi has been BLACKED
I'd say there's a high likelihood of Mariko dying because of all this.
Weird. While I don't think Kenichi had ever appeared in color in the actual comic, all colorized material so far - the covers, posters and promotional images - has presented him as a white rabbit, just like Mariko and Usagi. Maybe it happened to drive the point of Jotaro not being his actual son even further, but it's a baffling choice.
Kenichi dies, Mariko dies, Usagi has to tell Jotaro, tears ensue. Because why would anything nice ever happen?
He was white until the IDW jump, the recolors made him brown
Reminder that Chizu lost to Tomoe.
>He was white until the IDW jump
Grasscutter II seems like it's too obvious, you know? What story is the best? Oh, let's go for the single most important quest Usagi has done!
Dragon Bellow Conspiracy.
It's the story that hooks everyone.
Ant story with the inspector I have a soft spot for crime stories in the past
>it's an Usagi suffering episode
oh boy my favorite
A white rabbit is wandering the country as a jobless murderhobo while a brown rabbit not only bangs his girl but also has a solid job and is a good parent who's raising a white furred child that isn't his? Hell, Zig Forums would have an aneurysm.
>What happens when they come across Usagi?
>You Soggy has just got his ass whooped and must go to his mater's grave.
>Usagi must body guard someone! Will he survive?
I predict the emissary is going to die so hard. Usagi has like a 60% failure rate at the yojimbo thing.
Now in color!
>Absolute mad lad actually drew the foot lick
>the emissary survives
>Hikiji burns the village anyway
My favorite is The Hidden
The Hidden
I like the first part of grasscutter because of all the legend and mystery elements. and I like the second part because of the journey they have to take
>"The Return”
>4 parts
oh boy
>Usagi has to tell Jotaro, tears ensue. Because why would anything nice ever happen?
that wouldn't happen, because senso is canon
Bitch, take that back, or I'll go Teru Teru Bozu on your ass.
Anything that doesn't have kitsune
During this year's storytime Kitsune re-grew on me (no, it's not a tumor). Yeah, she is constantly pushing her luck and acts like an ass, but when I re-read the comic expecting only the worst from her I realized that she isn't as much of a cunt as people consider her to be. Sure, she went way too far once or twice, but most of the time she's mildy amusing.
I would still slap the shit out of that smirking muzzle, though.
you cant run from the truth. unless stan decides to change stuff this run
I began to enjoy reading the shit she pulls and getting mad about it. It's a good pain
Thankfully, after reading most recent issues you can tell Stan is determined to push things forward.
yeah definitely
If she hasn't already passed away. That shot of her in the preview looks rather foreboding.
A Town called Hell/A Return to Hell and any story with Gen in it.
