More than half of those were one-off TV films. If the writers of the original TT were interested in stuff like "tying up loose ends" they never would've made the movie the way they did. They've made it pretty clear that was never their intention.
People got their ending, and they got 5 seasons and a film of that universe. The problem is people just don't like what the ending was.
