That said, Batman was chasing Ra's al Ghul around the world to reclaim Damian's corpse. At a point, Damian's corpse was exposed to the crystal seen which is why Darkseid sent Godfrey to claim the corpse and take it to Apokolips.

It was there because the League considered it too dangerous to and while used by Bruce to allow him to have easy access to it.

The Hellbat Armor is actually fueled by Bruce's lifeforce, so after awhile he had to shed it, because continuing to wear it began to kill him, but that resulted in , before he, the family, and Damian's corpse were able to get back to the Batcave. Bruce took the charged crystal and stabbed Damian's corpse which brought him back to life.
