>tries to be a good father by taking his family out on a trip and bond with them more
>his family: "DUDE YOU SUCK YOU'RE UNEMPLOYED YOU DON'T DESERVE LOVE FROM YOUR OWN FAMILY LMAO"
Jesus Christ, what's their fucking damage?
>tries to be a good father by taking his family out on a trip and bond with them more
>his family: "DUDE YOU SUCK YOU'RE UNEMPLOYED YOU DON'T DESERVE LOVE FROM YOUR OWN FAMILY LMAO"
Jesus Christ, what's their fucking damage?
>what's their fucking damage?
Rick. the season has really been building up rick being more aggressive and demeaning while having the family get tired of his shit. the season finale is going to be a therapy episode and it was set up pretty clearly to point out that rick is the problem.
>another fucking jerry thread
This is clearly a venting thread for people that cant watch a show without projecting on the characters.
Tell your dad you love him already.
>Dad youre just a pathetic man trying to drag us down to your level of meagerness by trying to spend time with us away from the general toxicity of the modern world.
Seriously. This was a genuine reach for a "Lets Shit on Jerry" concept.
Jerry didn't have any ulterior motive aside from bond with his family. If Beth hadn't of taken over with her daddy issues it would've probably been really relaxing.
rick and morty is for gay pedophile neckbeards lmao
>implying it would have went well when Summer exists
When will you people learn that not a single member of that family isn't totally fucked?
>You had the literal power of God, you could have done anything with it. You could have cured cancer.
I don't get that line, did the Rock hybrids have Cancer? Did Jerry powers extend to earth?
camping is for fags, man. get over it.
>Did Jerry powers extend to earth?
Probably
>Rick has the ability to cure cancer through scientific means at any given moment
>Shits on Jerry for not doing it in the, at most, hour that he had divine powers.
God they reach for more and more straws each episode.
He literally admits he had an ulterior motive.
What were his ulterior motives?
Isn't the whole point that everyone in the Smith family is a terrible person?
the whole family are cunts. it's not a positive show.
the motive being wanting attention from his own family.
This. Rick literally said last episode word for word "I can do ANYTHING". Is curing cancer not worth doing?
I thought the point of the last season was to tone down Rick and return more to an actual family dealing with Rick?
Watch the car scene before the credits.
Just fucking say it, dude.
Nah lad. You better tell me so the rest of the thread knows too.
>the season finale is going to be a therapy episode
Another one?
We’re all aware the Smiths are a bunch of hostile shitheads, but whenever Jerry makes any attempt to actually bond with his family he gets irrationally shit on.
They weren't so bad in season 1, just like how Rick wasn't an edgy god but a sloppy fuckup. Most shows changed direction a little after they start but with this show the change has been massive and disastrous.
He literally tells summer she was right at the end
Nah bros we have to hate Jerry, Rick said so.
>Dad you brought us out here trying to be cool and impress us with worthless camping skills you probably learned from your dad as a kid. Fuck you.
So that's what his ulterior motive was? Take his family camping to impress them?
>tries to be a good father
Jerry has literally never tried that. His family recognizes this pattern of behavior from him and no longer falls for it.
Jerry is an average father seeking approval from his family. Jerry has tried bonding with his kids on multiple occasions and theyve done nothing but either
>Shit on him for trying like Summer
or
>Casually brush him off like Morty
>Jerry is an average father seeking approval from his family.
No, he isn't. Jerry wants obedience and reverence from his family. He doesn't want to do anything to earn it, he just wants it. He disguises this as caring about his family. But when push comes to shove, his true colors show. His family has noticed this about him and treats him accordingly.
Also, Jerry was never average. The show went out of its way, as early as season 1, to establish that Jerry is below average and insecure about it. It's why they had the gag about Rick dancing around his ego in season 1.
>Jerry wants obedience and reverence without earning it
Jerry wants the basic respect a husband and father should have. He never stated or indicated he wants to lord over people like Rick does.
>He disguises this as caring about his family
Except Jerry actually cares about them and its been shown he does. Granted he expects it in return. but they're his fucking family. Who wouldn't expect their own wife and kids to love them.
>Jerry is below average
Jerry is below average as a person. He's weak, pretty dull, talentless, and has no aspiration aside from delivering water I guess. The fact thats hes all this doesnt make him an awful person. It just makes him a boring one.
>Jesus Christ, what's their fucking damage?
They’re written by a fat depressed drunk alcoholic and a slightly less fat drunk depressed alcoholic who’s GF became a huge whore/pornstar.
Jerry should ditch his family and run off with summer’s friend
I think it's an interesting take on the "bumbling father" archetype. He's a fool but he knows this and refuses to better himself in meaningful ways, and his family rightfully calls him out on his bullshit.
What the fuck is up with the Jerry defense force in the past year or so? If you project onto Jerry you're a piece of shit.
Daddy issues on the part of the writers. Same problem that the Horus Heresy series has.
Every adult in the show is a horrendously awful person and you shouldn't be feeling sympathy for them
Rick was just trying to make Jerry feel like shit here, and look better in comparison. Also, curing cancer is exactly the sort of thing Rick wouldn't give a shit about unless he had a personal motivating factor or something to gain. He probably has a cure or knows how to make one, and is saving it for a bargaining chip.
Quit being such a fucking Jerry, Jerry...we know it's you.
>He's a fool but he knows this and refuses to better himself in meaningful ways, and his family rightfully calls him out on his bullshit.
Everyone on the show is a shit person.
The show just doesn't lean into it hard enough.
Name a single TV show or media of any kind since the 1960s that doesn't portray the father this way. Like an impotent, incompetent, spineless worm in contrast to his godlike wife. Go on I'll wait.
Now think about why you can't. Is that a coincidence?
