Could the New Gods work as an animated feature like Disney's Hercules

The only thing I can think to reply with is, while on an Earth that has been visited by the other new gods, or at least has the protections of the old gods, Darkseid can't go all out it seems?

There was a New Gods cartoon in development during the late '80s that was canned in pre-production. Mike Mignola was doing character designs for it in his words "because I can draw sort of like Kirby and was cheaper than the real thing".

You know, this would actually sort of make sense in a shounen tournament kind of way if it wasn't for 3 very specific details I remember about post-New 52 Darkseid:

1. He absolutely doesn't give a fuck about New Genesis, the Old Gods of Urgund, or anything considered an "old god" on Earth. Weakened and needing his daughter's help, he overpowered Zeus personally. Darkseid War made a point of singling out how he never intended to honor the peace pact with New Genesis, and only signed it to make Highfather stand down. He had some undefined power of temptation even before becoming a god properly which he used to set all the old gods on his planet to war with each other, and deliver the coup de grace to take their powers for his own-and then when his dad showed up to revive them with the ALE and "Torment Sanction" and used his Source manipulation powers to fucking depower him, Darkseid just backstabbed him to death with a scythe.

This was, it can't be stressed enough, very early on in his career

2. Earth 2: World's End had a scene showing Highfather /letting Darkseid and Apokolips consume Earth-2's entire universe/ in exchange for temporarily delaying his attack on the main one, so. New Genesis sucks so badly they know their best option against Darkseid is to give him an easier meal.

3. If you think Highfather fucking sucks in New 52/Rebirth, the Guardians of Oa agree. Because in the Godhead storyline Sinestro made a point of showing Highfather the Guardians registered Darkseid as a threat but didn't even bother to register HIghfather because they thought he was so far up his own ass he was too incompetant to actually bother keeping track of as a threat to the universe. New 52 Highfather sucks so badly he has negative communion to the Source, who actually stole his fucking soul during the iconic "Highfather talks to the Source via the white chunk" scene.

Why did the new 52 make Izaya/Highfather of all people, a man who only stopped his war with Darkseid because The Source literally said "Pick Peace Bro", into such a cunt anyway?

Do you know what, I started posting on Zig Forums regularly because I wanted to find out more about Darkseid at the moment, and I ended up with completely baffling questions like "why is Grail able to solo the Justice League and most of their greatest enemies when she's just slightly stronger Wonder Woman with eyebeams who backflips a lot" and "why didn't DC explain or resolve Barda betraying everyone to rejoin Darkseid after a bout of torture that didn't even phase Scott Free?". Have to stress, I read EVERY single issue with Darkseid and other New Gods in them to try to answer even more baffling questions like "Why the fuck does Yuga Khan have SOURCE MANIPULATION as his god power and how the hell did he lose when he had the not!Omega Effect and ALE simultaneously?"

What I've learned since then is nobody on Zig Forums can answer these questions, and I suspect nobody at DC's offices either.

Also, I got into comics from The Sandman, Lucifer, Azz's Joker graphic novel, and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth in my teens. I thought they were cool and never picked up a comic in my life because I liked the creepy occult stuff not the men and women in tights. On a whim, I started checking out the superheroes like...a year or two ago.

I regret everything.

Well, excuse you but I prefer for words to actually mean things even if I agree that Perpetua and Laughs are festering garbage that an 8 year old could've writen better. I may hate everything that's happened to the New Gods as a franchise since Simmons' Orion solo, but I'm not going to plug my ears and stand there going LALALALA like the Golden Age never ended.

You don't seem to read comics specifically currents. You're just replying to reply about a topic you know nothing about. Almost none of the New 52 is canon it directly contradicts most of what came before and after. The way much of DC has been written since rebirth has made it impossible to sync.
