I suppose now that Fox is owned by Disney she is technically a Disney princess after all. Thoughts on the film?
Anastasia (1997)

To be a Disney Princess, she has to put on the uniform.
I do find it funny how they made Rasputin into a kooky wizard in this movie.
>she is technically a Disney princess
She isn't, Disney Princess is a marketing term that refers to specific characters falling under that merchandise brand and has nothing to do with the characters titles in their own stories
She's also an IRL princess
>a kooky zombie wizard
FTFY
A lich you mean.
"In the dark of the night" was easily the best song
This is correct
Unfortunately this is the truth when you capitalize princess.
She is a Disney princess, but not a Disney Princess™.
Kind of ironic that Don Bluth left Disney because they abandoned their roots then forced them into the Disney Renaissance by outdoing them at every turn, only for Disney to buy a chunk of his work.
Its like Marvel buying Image Comics. Only more amusing, since most of the Image founders other than Larsen have gone back to the Big Two again.
It's kind of funny with all those cute bugs dancing around Rasputin.
Ironically this justifies communism because it implies the only reason the Soviets were inneficient was due to demonic corruption.
WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT DISNEY PRINCESSES? IT'S A FIFTEEN YEAR OLD TOY BRAND. STOP TALKING LIKE MARKETING DOSSIERS.
It's a nice film but it is also Bluth finally giving up and selling out by copying Disney's formula. Shame he kept releasing sub-standard movies and I have no idea why he thought going up against Disney directly was a good idea.
No, the demonic corruption just replaced the executioners of the royal family. The Soviets are still shit.
I don’t think the timeline matchesStalin dying when Rasputin was beaten despite the idea of Death Of Stalin taking place in the same universe being amusing.
Grim side note to anyone not in the know, but government forensic scientists actually found the bones of the royal family and verified them. Anastasia did die with them. Although they’re technically holy according to the Russian Orthodox Church and would be treated like the bones of Saints, the Church refuses to officiate them because, and I’m not making this up, it goes against their official stance that it was a Jewish Satanic takeover plot and the remains were destroyed.
So the royal family remain in a morgue, basically until the Church recognizes them or the Russian government disregards the Church and recognizes them in an official capacity.
ONCE
Generally enjoyed it, had some pretty good songs, but it isn't anything too special.
I mean, OP opened it up by saying she's "technically a Disney princess," it's fair for user to point out that there's a distinction between a princess character Disney owns the rights to and what is considered by Disney to be a Disney Princess in the brand sense (especially since some of the princesses, namely Mulan and Pocahontas, aren't even princesses).
>Grim side note to anyone not in the know, but government forensic scientists actually found the bones of the royal family and verified them. Anastasia did die with them.
I believe this was a big news back in mid 2000's once the DNA test confirm that they found her body.
But its the truth.
Its amusing as hell to have the lineup include Anastasia, Princess Leia, the Chestbuster from Alien 3, Coffee Shop Princess from Always Sunny in the Dayman story, the ape princess Oaka from Planet Of The Apes, Rita Repulsa, Lucy and Susan from Chronicles Of Narnia, every Marvel Comics female royal, and Princess Buttercup from Princess Bride among many others.
But in technicality, Disney will always keep them separate.
Huuur duuur everything owned by Disney automatically gets its legacy stripped away duuur.
Not a single person in this thread implied that.

I love that song
Merida was made by Pixar, still got to be a Disney Princess. I don't see the distinction really.
I want her in kingdom hearts.
Pixar is Disney's bitch.
The Musical based on the film pretty much fixes all the problems with the movie.
>Rasputin is removed
>no silly magic subplots or whacky animal sidekicks
>adds even more good music
>changes the antagonist to a more believable soviet officer trying to kill Anastasia because of the political implications
>Has better pacing overall
Literally the only downside is losing "in the dark of the night" but it's worth the price.
Bluth was done for at the moment All Dogs go to Heaven opened up the same day as Little Mermaid. Disney put him back in his place that day, and the guy never recovered. Anastasia did make a profit, yet Hercules made even more that same year.
This is a very offensive picture.
Cyka blyat
>Rasputin is removed
>literally the only good thing about the movie gets removed
Russian here, it's a generally beloved movie. A guy who was year older than me in high school, his class used Once upon a December for their graduation dance.
We need more of this kind of fuckery, not pic related.
Russia is a 3rd world shithole lmao
I guess that explains Kida from Atlantis.
She's a Disney princess, but not a Disney Princess
Yes
