I cannot speak for everyone but her and her friends what they would have been considered "preppy types" in 90's are mostly of wealthy families, her step dad is very well off and her mom used to be a model (still looks damn fine).

one thing i remember the most about our teenage years was she spent a lot of time online places like Tumblr and any offshoot with those fringe opinions before they became mainstream. Later went for an art degree and we all told her it was a waste of time and all she needed was to network with people.

after 4 years and now in debt turns out in her last year a professor told her in passing networking is just as important as working on her art.
