She wasn't a murderer or a violent person, she only killed Azulon because she had no other choice to protect Zuko. That's partially why she had to leave, you think Ozai's going to trust her anywhere near him after she breaks into the murdering Fire Lords game? I preferred the theory that Ozai lied to Ursa about Azulon wanting Zuko dead - Azula just said that to scare Zuko, Zuko told Ursa, Ursa told Ozai, and a lightbulb went off in his head. Azulon was going to 'take away his son' by essentially giving him to Iroh as a new heir and banishing Ozai to some colony.

There's also the fact that if Iroh has (probably) already renounced his claim to the throne at this point, because his own son and heir is dead, then killing both Azulon and Ozai means the Fire Lord would be... Zuko. At 11 years old.

Also Sozin started the war 100 years early when Roku was already like 60, but wasn't Azulon only an infant around that time? So Sozin was an elderly man when Azulon was born and Azulon died like 10 years before the start of the show, so Azulon was easily around 90 years old when he finally died and Uncle was like 60 in the show.
The whole timeline is pretty fucked up and it works better if Sozin is Zuko's great-great grandfather, but Bryke is mentally retarded so why bother with details lol?
Of course if Sozin was gay AND old when Azulon is born, it raises serious questions if Azulon is actually Sozin's son or a convenient heir produced by a retainer to carry out Sozin's homovengeful will against Roku for not wanting to fuck him.
