Resurrection stories rarely do and I would almost prefer if they just had the character show up again with no explanation.

In general it's just a character taking a vacation until they're needed. Only characters people barely care about stay dead, aside from the perma-dead characters from 30+ years ago. Mutant deaths are a joke and that's before they manage to blatantly cheat death.

Generally not capeshit, if it is written and created by one person then yes a death matters, like in Invincible or Walking Dead, Uber, or any 1 off short story.
If it is a property owned by a mega corporation, you could cash in and kill Superman but now you are not selling 4 Superman comics a month.
Who ever owns the rights to Gwen Stacy can just make money from her Death and her run in Spiderman or create new cannon and profit off the character for years to come.
Marvel killed everyone in the Ultimate universe and then it started sucking.
