What are your hopes for Wakfu S4? Do you think the kickstarter will succeed? Will it pull more money than S3? what would redeem the series for those of you who have come to dislike S3?

I think Tot will ruin it unless they can corral him.
Nice Redraw
It's got an other side on joel's blog
Damn.
In a worst case scenario I expect redesigns that tone down the distinct aesthetic of wakfu (exaggerated proportions) and a plot that tries to re-create Nox *again* and wallows in melodrama while creating false tension for all the main cast, since we already know none of them are able to fucking die. Tristepin might deus ex machina out of death AGAIN.
but that's ultimately brought with a silver lining of decent to good moment-to-moment character interaction.
Ideally they undo removing Amalia's tits and return to an aesthetic closer to Xaxaxa's work, give an interesting exploration of the realm of the gods, explain where the hell everyone is and resolve the issues from not having gods. Also Sofukians.
Xa hasn't been an employee in a few years and isn't involved in character design work for any ankama stuff, he's just commissioned once in a while to make illustrations, so I suspect his style won't have any bearing on Ankama's current aesthetic.
Let it end.
It'll be a cliffhanger gaain because they need you to get waven and maybe fund another kickstarter when nothing else works
This but he's the boss and won't let anybody else decide things. Just hope he has the decency to finish the show once and for all so they can move on with Waven or whatever.
What happened? Did Tot drive him away?
Prolly makes better money as an illustrator for hire than as an employee and has the freedom to work on other stuff. Not having to deal with Ankama bullshit on a daily basis is probably an extra perk.
that doesnt matter when their primary products, their MMOs and even Krosmaga are defined by a certain aesthetic, one they moved away from in Season 3 which I hate.
Making Amalia flat seems like an attempt to capture the international market or something, it's kind of arbitrary and their aesthetic was more pleasing before imo
>that doesnt matter when their primary products, their MMOs and even Krosmaga are defined by a certain aesthetic
But they aren't. In fact it's been a recurring complaint among players that Dofus 2.0 departed considerably from dofus 1.x's aesthetic, to something closer to Wakfu, and then that Krosmaga and Waven departed from that aesthetic in turn, the Dofus manga has a completely different aesthetic from the game, the canned Boufbowl and Slage each had their own aesthetic, etc.
The coherent aesthetic you think Ankama has is basically only specifically that of Wakfu, its directly derived products and Xa's illustrations.
While I'll concede on how many products have different aesthetics, weren't they advertising dofus with this aesthetic for ages aswell?
Departing from it so drastically, not just in how they muted the colours and used less details, but the proportions aswell just isn't something I want out of this series. Kerub's aesthetics were great and I wouldn't want a different aesthetic either, why make Wakfu more similar?
I miss the thick legs look of season 1. Eva seemed to stretch out in S2 and then Amalia in S3.
Eh I’m indifferent to it after season 3, like I’ll watch it if it’s made but I’m in no rush to help it or h e it effect me one way or the other.
>What are your hopes for Wakfu S4?
Not going to happen, but I would like for them to take the opportunity of exploring an unknown dimension to return to one of the things that made season 1 so enjoyable and focus more on fresh, original locales, creatures and characters while they move toward the plot. Instead, I imagine they’ll want to cram the necessary plot elements to end the story in as few episodes as possible due to insufficient budget.
Maybe give Kali an actual personality this time (did she even make it to the divine dimension?).
It might be interesting to see Tot go bonkers and finally kill off most of the main cast now that their arc is over. Not necessarily good or satisfying, but interesting.
I also hope the release schedule is a bit more normal so we can have weekly threads for a while instead of dumping most of it at once and letting interest die off in under a month. Give it time to shoot the crap with the regulars and get some drawfaggotry going.
>Do you think the kickstarter will succeed? Will it pull more money than S3?
Might succeed if we’re not expected to single-handedly fund the entire season, but I can’t see it being more successful after how the fanbase dissolved post-season 2 and how much of a shitshow the first KS was. It’s going to be a lot more difficult to both attract masses of backers and convince anyone to risk hundreds of dollars again (especially in the middle of a pandemic and recession).
Source pls
Thank you based user. Have a bump.
>It might be interesting to see Tot go bonkers
He already is. The guy can advertise for shit leading to Ankama getting raped in the market.
I'd rather watch gonk droid adventure : a star war story
>finally kill off most of the main cast now that their arc is over
The main cast is basically the only widely recognizable thing Ankama has outside of nerd circles. That's why they cameo in Dofus, Krosmaga, Waven and others. They'll only be killed for good when they have nothing left to sell you.
I do wonder how far Wakfu would have gone if it didn't have a western following doing fansubs and being horny fucks for Amalia, Eva and Miranda.
I recall most frenchanons didn't think the show was all that special and had crappy acting.
>the only widely recognizable thing Ankama has outside of nerd circles
Well, there was Kerubim but he was killed because he wasn't Tot's creation
On that note, maybe we'll have to pick up the slack if Tots doesn't advertise enough and shill on social media. I've seen some artists on twitter doing a meme where they redraw screenshots in their artstyle.
Yeah, due to the whole "redraw sailor moon" thing they launched a "redraw wakfu" to promote the kickstarter.
Tot ain't gonna advertise more because his whole strategy is to have the fandom do his work for him.
Yeah it sucks but honestly who is he going to advertise to? It's the cult fans who pay the stuff in the first place.
He wasn't? I thought he was just killed for dramatic effect, safe in the knowledge that he'll just be resurrected again.
Feels like the minor characters like Simone were the ones on the chopping block despite playing a bigger role in the show finale.
Nox was pretty great, even if he didnt really come onto his own till the finale.
