...and? No amount of power or intelligence is excusable for the level of manipulation, neglect, and abuse Rick does to his family. The therapist was right on the money calling out how, without the maturity to admit the need for a change in his lifestyle, let alone the consideration of giving his life an actual purpose, all his intellect got him was turning him into a vegetable wallowing in its own feces, just so he could avoid even thinking about talking about his emotions for an hour, maybe half that.

I personally hope we get more simple truths with cutting lampshaded critique in this episode, as well. Let Rick fans squirm like worms on a hot sidewalk.

The only way for Rick to "win" against her is to become a better, healthier person. But he can't without undoing his idea of who/what "Rick" is.

Or maybe he can't win against her at all because she's paid by the hour and has no emotional investment in the Smith family.

Here's the thing. There's no conflict between Rick and the therapist. All she did was acknowledge his great qualities and correctly assess his motives for avoiding family therapy. Rick can't *win*, because she has not placed herself in an antagonistic position, nor does he hold any animosity towards her.

I do kinda want them to make out or something. Something wild, thank you very much.

Worst episode for sure, best scene however

Rick’s whole weakness is his total lack of emotional intelligence which is passed on to his family so no matter how frustratingly bad of a person Rick is, no one ever takes him down a peg. It was nice to see someone finally do it

Yep. One of the character designers was talking about how if a background character is looking too normal, they'll intentionally make their eyes crooked.

it was fucking anti comedy. It had the effect of sucking all the fun and enjoyment out of the episode
worst part is the scene right after when rick and beth are talking in the car and morty and summer do not move in the entire scene like the animation team forgot that they were in that scene

It was an on-the-nose lead balloon and even so the show didn't stop treating Rick like a god.

The latest episode ending in the car really shows how shit Rick is. He can't let anything go and will become petty, defensive, and manipulative if he feels threatened or slighted even by his own family for the simplest of things.

Fucking Jerry admits his fault yet Rick breaks everyone down with his bullshit at the end to reestablish his superiority. Ricks makes the family actively worse with his narcissism.

Idk why Ricks fans would want to be that emotionally stunted and insecure.

Did I say it was anywhere as good as S1? No, I didn't. It's still garbage. But S3 was an abyss of quality and S4 is slightly above that so I can say it's better.
