Lorebaiting has ruined every show since Adventure Time started the trend. The second you introduce lore and relationshit, the fans will hungrily lap it up. Any episode not dedicated to one of those things feels like a ripoff. No one ever expected Rick and Morty to be anything but a parody of BttF and B-movies, but Harmon had to make it 3deep5us and wants to have his cake and eat it too. I say Harmon because I doubt Roiland really gives a shit at this point. But RnM, AT, SU, and RS have a really shitty habit of deciding they don't want to be a comedy, and then getting mad for feeling pressure from when people want a drama with continuity. We wouldn't want it if it was never introduced to us in the first place.
