I'm not getting it either. Someone finding out they're a duplicate is a scifi plot we've all seen before. Normally they go through some angsty existential crisis shit for awhile then realize they're just as important and real as the original. To me it seemed like Rick was being genre savvy, philosophical, and caring. Both Beths are equally real and he doesn't want himself or anyone else treating the clone like an imposter.
