Why is there a lack of black cartoons out there?

They're too busy watching anime.

Black Americans make up about 13% of the overall population, so it's pretty natural for there to be fewer shows by/featuring them.

That said, there's still disproportionately too few shows run by black Americans. Probably in the low single digits, like 5%. This can be chalked up to Hollywood and the entertainment industry in general still being an old white guy's club that hasn't changed much since the "good old days".

Progress has been made, but it's not quite there yet.

And thats also another thing i dont really get.

Why has the black community continually latched onto a genre that continues to not and misrepresent them?

What user said above me may be true, but in america ive seen black people as the main demographic for people who watch anime.

Black people generally aren't mistreated in anime because they generally don't exist in anime.

Boy I sure do love living in the post-racial world that decades of liberal political ideology have gifted us. Can you imagine how much it would suck if, even after all this time, EVERY SINGLE FUCKING CONVERSATION ABOUT EVERYTHING EVER revolves around someone's skin color? I can't even imagine how anything could ever possibly get done in such a world. Everyone would be mistrustful and suspicious of each other and the loudest, shittiest, most disingenuous voices would drown everyone else out.

Yup, our multicultural and diverse society is such a great deal, and it keeps getting better and better!

>Why is there a lack of black cartoons out there?
Same reason there are few Native American cartoons

Anime is fun.

>1990s: making a big deal out of skin color is racist
>2020s: not making a big deal out of skin color is racist

>Why has the black community continually latched onto a genre that continues to not and misrepresent them?

>identifying with themes instead of characters.
Take DBZ for instance. Both Goku and Vegeta are members of a race who have been enslaved and used to do others' dirty work. Goku for most of the series is a not-so-bright underdog who never the less manages to defeat beings who constantly flout their superiority through determination and physical training. Vegeta's defining characteristic is his pride in his saiyan heritage despite having been robbed of any sort of material inheritance or even family and having been forced to grow up in a society that constantly belittled him. Neither Goku nor Vegeta are black or have any physical feature that would relate to them being African monkey tails excluded although that is more of a coincidence since Goku's character was original based off of the Chinese myth of Sun Wukon the Monkey King but their stories and conflicts resonate with African-American experiences.

Also as a kid the fight scenes are pretty cool to watch.

because gangster movies are more fun

i think you should take your grievances up with the lgbt community, they seem to be getting all the money for cartoons nowadays

>it's about weed lmao
>blablabla hip hop blablabla
>sassy grandma character #5

because nobody but egomaniacs care if they're 'represented' in the cartoons they watch.

Oh come the fuck on, user. No one who ever got into DragonBall Z, watched it for any reason that wasn't because of big over the top fight scenes and yelling.

This. Most people only care about escapism or are emphatic enough to relate characters that don't look like them

>This can be chalked up to Hollywood and the entertainment industry in general still being an old white guy's club
Yeah, "white".
Jews aren't just going to give up their hold on that kind of industry, user. Not sure why you'd ever expect them to.

This. I don't want to see representation of myself in cartoons. I hate myself.

>muh jews jews jewey jewes jews jj jj j j j jews

I agree. Though I'm wondering why do some people complain about "representation" so much when it's pretty much always been there in a way?

>calls it an 'old white guys club' without batting an eye
>actually...
>y...you can't SAY that

Not sure what you're seething about, it's the truth.
I guess it's less convenient than just blaming everything on white people.

>Black people shouldn't watch anime.
Telling black people what they're allowed to watch sounds super progressive to me m8.

13% of population. So about 6 percent male. Minus those in jail and wow the number of shows is basically perfect.

If it isn’t gay shit or woman empowerment nonsense it doesn’t matter

I wanna make a black cartoon. Give me ideas for characters and episodes.

Is Boondocks genuinely the best example of western anime? I cant think of a better-looking anime-styled show.

This honestly, whenever authors say shit like "we added minorities like the FILIPINOS into our show!"
I cringe myself into a black hole, like thanks but we didn't ask.

Bebe's Kids was kino.
