I remember 20 years ago when I was looking into getting into the comic book business, reading about Diamond and their stranglehold on distribution. Basically the message I got was, "If you want to distribute your comics, you have to deal with Diamond, and since you're a small, independent publisher, Diamond will not give a damn about you and it will be a constant, uphill battle to get your work out there."

So... this hardcore loyalty to Diamond is strange to me.

They have to have an different accounts to ship for dc and marvel now in addition to paying double the shipping costs (one for everybody but dc and one for dc)
Also midtown is one of their competitors due to being a retailer

Also the fact that this is happening when shit is already dire from the pandemic

You will save money in the long run because of Diamond's insane rules due to their monopoly.

If you need to order from multiple distributors you're paying shipping costs multiple times at different rates. Consolidating shipments saves money.
