PreTeena

A thread for the appreciation of cute little Teena and her funny friends.

I wonder why this never got an adaptation. Seems to me it could have done as well as one of those Jap semi-comedic SoL shows.

Well, as someone said in a previous thread, when it was published plenty of networks were airing new cartoons based on comic strips, and all of them did poorly.
That's probably why. Too bad, since PreTeena is the one that cold have been done well. It would be a classic.

No undershirt?

No need, she's perfect and flat.

That and the fact that Allison seems to want to keep her work pure. Apparently she turned down a book deal because the publishes wanted to age the characters up a bit.

True. TV producers may have presented retarded ideas that she didn't agree with.
"Introduce a new character"
"Age them up a bit"
"One pf them gets powers"

Yeah. As much as I'd love new PreTeena content like a book or series, I have major respect for the creator sticking to her guns.

Her perfect pre-teen nipples aren't sensitive from puberty.

I don't know, the early 2000s was a good time for a SoL cartoon, e.g. Hey Arnold, As Told By Ginger, etc.

Perfect bodies don't need extra shirts.

Japan can do cute modern slice of life stories but we can't for some reason.

You're thinking about cartoons for kids, though, and both from Nickelodeon.

But animated cartoons in sitcom format did poorly back then, specially ones based on comic strips.
Dilbert failed, Committed failed, Baby Blues failed, and out of all the animated sitcoms from back then, only Futurama was successful. Mission Hill failed, and that show kicked ass.
So I totally see why producers would reject the project of animating PreTeena back then.

Sweet! New art!
Thanks.

Forgot to say, even though I see the reason why producers would have been scared of investing in yet another cartoon based on a strip, that doesn't mean they were right.
Any project can be developed wrong, like Committed. I hear the strip is popular and nice, but I've seen some episodes of the animated version and it's just the fucking worst.
PreTeena the Animated Series wouldn't be a guaranteed success, if they fuck it up. It could be done really well, though. The material is there, it's a matter of how well they use it.

Teena would look even hotter with long hair.

What a hottie.

I don't think Allison would let them fuck it up. She seems committed to her stories and characters. I do agree the material is there though. I've been wondering the past few weeks what the best format of the show would be. The three week and longer arcs work perfectly as stand alone episodes. But there aren't a ton of them. However, the two weekers could easily be combined into A and B plots. And most of the one week plots and one offs would work fine as single scenes that fit the narrative of an episode. I feel like 22 minute episodes would work just fine, and the Sunday strips could even be used as cold opens.

What's up with this character? Why is a boomer comic being shilled so hard suddenly? Is it shills?

It's a cutie redhead with a flat body and she's a bit of a tomboy. Why do you think that would be popular here?

fanart of the mom in lingerie when?

why yes every poster in this thread besides you is me using proxy

>Is it shills?
Why would it be?
It's so hard to believe some people like this comic?

Well folks I finally did it. I made Teena's cookie soup. And honestly it's not that bad.

Ah yes yes. I have been waiting for this thread.

There's nothing to shill. The book isn't even sold anymore.

Teen you didn't even have to shave. Don't be so smug.

hehe YES

Wow. You're a true fan.
Send it yo Allison Barrows, she'll get a kick out of it.

It's hard to believe that this old ass comic strip managed to become FOTM across consecutive 500+ post threads.
Then again, this is pervy old Zig Forums. Anyone can force anything when they're obsessed enough.

for me it's frankly because it's expansive and new to me. I saved way more strips than I would need as references because I enjoyed them.

Teena is a dirty girl. Also:
>Don't sweat the small stuff!!
Although Kongou Banchou came out in 2007? So maybe it's some other reference?

>Send it to Allison Barrows
I meant an email with the photo, not a frozen sample of the soup.

You think so? I feel like it'd be kinda creepy to just send her a pic like that.

Gonna post the week of the relevant strip as well.

Jeri really hates bananas.

Can you fix the color around her freckles on pic attached? That greenish tint makes her look seasick.

Cookie soup!

>I feel like it'd be kinda creepy to just send her a pic like that
May be true...
Well, tell her your little brother made it after reading the comic, then it'll be cute.

I have a similar issue with popcorn getting lodged under my tonsils. Sucks big time.

Sending her just the soup is a no-no, it looks like diarrhea, but if you make several pics of the preparation of cookies into the soup, that might be OK.

I dunno, I wouldn't wanna be dishonest with her just to save face or whatever. It'd be cool to chat with her though.
