>How does this work?
>It works like a community toy chest. In the /coc/ threads you are free to post whatever ideas/settings/characters you want, but you have to be OK with other people playing with them (tweaking them, putting them in stories, using them for things, etc.)
>There's no guarantee that what you post will catch on either.
>If the OC you are posting is YOURS for something you are personally doing, then it would go to the "How is your webcomic?" threads.
>If you just want feedback on an OC of yours, then it would go in the "donut steel" threads or drawthreads.

We might, possibly, maybe, POTENTIALLY be seeing the roughs for 'I Know a Guy: Trade Chain' this thread. Which is the reason for the OP image.
It's gonna be at this speed then.
Alright.
It's kind of the norm around here
Even when art does get posted, it's rare for it to kickstart momentum in the thread. The stuff that usually keeps discussion on a good pace is either (a) coming up with and revising new ideas, or (b) Golden Girl character/story discussion.
>Nuka Cola
Whenever I have to bump the thread after making it, I know it's going to be a rougher start than usual.
I'm hoping for IKAG WIP comic pages this thread.
I don't know if this thread will actually last until they are ready if they even become ready this week.
>Super Velociraptor
First good chance I've got to really put this out here.
I made this character when I was kid, and storytimed the comic a few years ago. I was into Jurrasic Park at the time, so there was the inspiration. The comic was made to win a classroom competition over who was a better artist.
Since ya'll got a kick out of it, I figured I just hand him over the character to /coc/.
From what I can recall about origins, Super Velociraptor is a living avatar of a dead space raptor race. They sent their life force into space and it bonded with the fossil of an Earth velociraptor, creating him.
His motivation is to protect Earth from the same invading space monsters that wiped out his race.
At least that's what kid me thought up. I'm sure this can be built upon.
His base powers are speed, leaping, and fighting ability.
His strongest power is a lighting attack that skeletonizes whoever it strikes.(What the hell was I thinking?) Though some monsters can resist it for a time.
Today, I imagine he would stay in a museum as a homebase, with a human scientist companion who studies him, and helps him recollected flashes of memory he experiences from time to time about his people(A side effect of being an avatar of thier knowledge).
I was never a furry, so I'm not entirely sure where Super Velociraptor falls, since he has alien origins, and lives in a non-anthro world, among humans.
It think the fun of using this character would be applying "kid logic" to how he fights and interacts. Kinda like a joke character.
Apart from that, I hope to see what you guys can do better.
It's always the case
Nice
How would he get along with Chaptor, the gentleman raptor?
Super Velociraptor may see him as kindred, giving him a valid link to Earth. He might even ask him for help in deciphering his memory flashes.
SV's scientist friend may appreciate him too.
Should the scientist be male or female?
I have an idea for a character that starts his story as a criminal in prison, but has a change of heart. He learns a bunch of skills from the other prisoners, including a former supervillain or two, over the ten years of his incarceration and emerges from the pokey as a superhero that goes undercover as a crime-lord to wipe out the gangs, but I need a theme. At first I was thinking about going with a moth theme, with a cape, but now I'm thinking of using a snake. Moths metamorphose from larva, and snakes shed their skins. The idea is to have a character symbolizing rebirth or growth/change.
I love how he looks like the Green Ranger.
Does the /coc/ universe have a super hero family? A vintage nuclear family in the vein of the Fantastic Four/ The Incredibles and call them The Implausibles, whose powers have limits that don't make sense. Members can includr Mrs. Implausible who can stretch herself to ludicrous lengths and Mr. Implausible whose telekinetic powers is as powerful as his physical strength. And so on.
Oh and their pet can be a clones super animal long extinct.
>At first I was thinking about going with a moth theme, with a cape, but now I'm thinking of using a snake. Moths metamorphose from larva, and snakes shed their skins. The idea is to have a character symbolizing rebirth or growth/change.
Snakes are anthropomorphised in fiction as cowardly creepy creatures with little loyalty. Unless the theme of your story is about a villain trying and failing to fight their nature, or about overcoming stereotypes, then something like a moth or butterfly might fit the story better.
I see how it is. You think they're supposed to be grouped together just because they're reptiles. Speciesist.
>Does the /coc/ universe have a super hero family?
There's a retired supervillain and villainess with kids, but off top of my head there isn't a hero family in /coc/. You'd have to make the dynamic of the characters compelling to keep peoples' interest, though. Just giving them powers that seem incompatible with each other isn't enough unless you explore how that affects the family's dynamic with each other, or vice versa
That's cool.
Green Ranger color scheme for him, then?
A nuclear family? No.
There's a number of super hero families though.
Like the Pikes with Spearhead, Harpoonist, and Diving Belle.
The Dopple family where most members have duplication powers.
And probably a few others.
Thank you, I appreciate that.
If female, expect shipping.
I did my best.
But if the character's going undercover to destabilize gangs (like the Green Hornet?) wouldn't having a snake-theme be better, because other gangs associate snakes with villainy? Moths aren't dangerous, but snakes will fuck you up.
Image spoilered because it's nasty.
>Image spoilered because it's nasty.
It's strange. I was expecting it to be something subversive, like a snake-themed anime girl going "boo", or something similarly tame to undermine the warning, since it's a joke lots of people like to play on imageboards.
Dont forget breastquest or ladybug
There kind of is.
Now for a proper redraw.
I appreciate your effort, user!
I based the skin color on my old Jurassic Park toy(that I still have thanks to mom saving it for me after all these years).
Male raptor on human female? Eh, I know where we are.
I leave that any user.
The scientist is a paleantologist. Could be designed with a lab coat, or a diggers look. I think glasses would be a good feature.
Any other ideas?
If he's working in a museum then odds are he's just going to be wearing formal clothes.
More like living in the museum on a mutual agreement. Its a safe setting for him to rest while also being a subject of study for the scientist.
Plus, "kid logic". He stays in costume. Then again, what sort of casual could you see him wearing?
Forgot to mention before too, the "mask" is a like a crown to his people. It hides his full face as an indicator that he represents all his people, not just himself.
Like an abandonment of self in the service of others type of philosophy.
>pic is old fanart recieved.
I mean the paleontologist is the one wearing formal clothes.
He's not at a dig site or in the lab.
Ah, okay.
>or she
>more fanart
that thread was fun.
