How should this fight have ended?
How should this fight have ended?
lesbians kissing.
It honestly couldn't have ended any other way. Even a deranged Azula is too much for most people. Possibly even Ozai. She new he was goading her into using her lightning. It was a smart stratagy, as he expected it to either backfire on her (like it did with him due to her state of mind) or redirect it at her. Instead she aims at Katara, because even a crazy Azula is a smart Azula.
In the end. The victory for Zuko, was being her equal.
>Possibly even Ozai.
Why do so many Azulafags believe this retardation? Is it just because of the meme blue fire?
There has to be some way for Zuko to win the fight and for Katara to not get involved. Katara's involvement cheapens the fight. I know it's in-character for Azula to cheat, but that's not what the story required. The story required Zuko beating her cleanly, and finally becoming the superior sibling. The fight as a whole is great but the ending is a massive letdown.
Azula is young. Therefore she has a much higher ceiling than him. Ozai would eventually feel threatened by that potential, which is the main reason he conditioned/treated her the way he did.
I say that going with the attempts to redeem her in the comics. Azula was crazed and believed everyone hated her or didn't want her. I think that she should have shot lightning at Zuko with the full expectation that he would fire it back at her. Wanted him too, even. But Zuko at the last second aims away from Azula. In her stunned state Zuko defeats her.
>beating her cleanly
Which was never going to happen, as she would always have the excuse of 'I was going through a psychotic break at the time'. Azula was always the superior bender. If it was purely physical, Zuko would win and not just because he's a man. Dude has mad skills as seen in the Blue Spirit and a lot more experience. The only way Zuko could have won that duel, is if Katara wasn't there. As he would have killed her with her own lightning.
Thematically it also wouldn't have worked
The finale made it pretty clear (with Aang vs Ozai being the exception) that alone it's difficult to succeed
This is a good idea, and I like it a lot.
I really, really like the idea that Zuko shows Azula mercy and Azula basically breaks from this because she's overwhelmed with emotion. One idea I've had before is that Zuko actually does redirect the lightning, and it hits Azula, and then as Azula is lying there on the ground Zuko asks Katara to heal her. Katara protests it, but Zuko says that Azula is his sister and she doesn't want her to die. The idea that Zuko can kill her, and comes close to killing her, but ultimately spares her, has always been attractive to me.
Zuko is almost superhuman in terms of physical strength, isn't he?
And that's what people don't understand about this fight. They keep applying the wrong trope to it.
It's amazing what a difference a mask can make. That sense of anonymity just lifted all that weight off his shoulders and allowed him to be free to reach his full potential.
But this just resulted in Azula getting defeated in two separate 1 v 1 fights
Not if Katara staid in the healing tents where she belongs!
While you've definitely got a point, the thing is, the show very much established that bending does exhaust the bender
So you've got Azula, who is charged by the comet, has already had a solid fight with Zuko, and now who has to fight to fight with Katara, who is still fresh
I honeslty think it wouldve been better for Toph to go with Zuko and Katara with Sokka//Suki.
Idk why they thought Toph on flying machines was a good idea anyway, even if she could "see". Katara wouldve been more usefulll imo, plus she couldve been their after aangs beat firelord, and no bitching about her being a target.
> the show very much established that bending does exhaust the bender
lel. when.
Azula had a 100x powerboost at the moment and Katara was worried about Zuko potentially dying. She should have had no problem taking out a single waterbender.
Unfortunately, Katara had Azula's number from day one.
Bumi liberating Omashu
Sure he bends literal houses with ease, but when he has to bend Ozai's statue he clearly has to give it his all
We do know that he is one of the greatest earthbenders, so for him it is less of an effort
I can also remember the Katara vs Pakku fight, where Katara clearly gets out of breath
And Iroh stressing the importance of breathing in Firebending, obviously as breath is important for proper control, but I suppose also for endurance
Toph managed to be useful in the airships thanks to metalbending. Katara would have just been splashing a limited amount of water.
because katara is the writers pet.
She was a writer's crutch more than anything. As they always had to go out of their way to justify her existence. She's the only member of the cast that has no rhyme or reason as to why they are a master of their craft.
Katara being the writers pet was literally shown in the first episode, when she goes angry mode and releases Aang with some super ice explosion. It seems she's more prodigy than Azula, even without years of training.
At the end of the show, after the dragon training, Zuko was definitely on par with Azula or stronger. He was having literally zero issues dealing with her during their last fight. The only reason - the ONLY reason - she beat him was because he's stupid and goaded a megalomaniac with no concept of rules.
The only reason he was beating her was because she was in the middle of a mental breakdown which had already started by the time they had the air ship fight by the way.
If he was just barely beating her, I could accept the idea that mentally sound Azula was still stronger. It was such an outrageously one-sided fight that there's only so much of an excuse you can make for it. Zuka was the better bender after the dragon training, he just was.
This goes after Zuko takes the hit meant for Katara
>Azula chases Katara around the ring, throwing lightning
>She dodges a handful of blasts
>Goes behind a pillar
>Crazy Azula sends out a huge shot
>Explosion busts the pillar and sends Katara flying
>Zuko has a 'No!' moment
>Katara seems to be 'dead'
>Azula savors the moment
>Katara 'hears' the water in the storm drains next to her in a panning shot that shows her eyes open slightly, showing the audience she's not actually dead
>Azula waxes poetic about how much more powerful she is than Zuko.
>Calls down thunderbolts from a stormy sky just to show how powerful she is
>They strike near him a few times, knocking him back while he's near dying
>Big evil grin, she raises her hands to finish him off with a final bolt
>It comes down
>Right on top of Azula
>She's fried like bad chicken
>Camera pans from her getting zapped up top, to the puddle of water that wasn't there a moment ago around Azula's feet which made her a target for the lightning (fuck you, science)
>Blown back from Zuko, landing on her face
>Dramatic pause
>Water recedes into the storm drains
>Katara's holding a wound and closes her eyes as she stops waterbending
>Heals Zuko
>They hear Azula moaning, crying, screaming
>They approach her in a slow shot that ends with a jump-scare shot of Azula, now extra Palpatine'd, as hideous on the outside as she is on the inside
>Cut to commercials.
Thoughts?
He was already on the same level as her in Boiling Rock and Southern Raiders which all happened before her breakdown.
It would seem that Aang's semen is so powerful. That it supercharged her through space and time.
This. They new she was too powerful and started to weaken her to make it believable both in universe and out. Otherwise the only logical conclusion for Azula was taking the throne for herself.
People forget that Zuko's gradual progression as a firebender is part of his character arc just at is for Katara.
Zuko should have won for once.
Fuck Katara for taking Zuko's chance to win for once.
>They new she was too powerful and started to weaken her to make it believable both in universe and out.
You are overestimating her. Aang and Katara had already fought her on equal terms and even gotten the better of her.
Every day, I pray to Allah to kill all y/u/rishitters.
>Zuko is stronger than Azula
Aang is the Avatar. Katara naturally counters her. Not to mention it was her literal destiny.
>Katara naturally counters her.
This isn't fucking Pokemon
