Mako sucked as a love interest because he was a boring character, they replaced him with another being character. It also set a precedent for how identity politics would clearly make for shit writing because disproportionate like would be placed on things if they fell within the right categories like gay or negro.

At least with fan service you know its simply a matter of preference and don't act as if its making the world better

Yeah. But, y'know, we gotta have dykes and appease the alphabet people and horny fans.

Yeah. It's just a quick viewbait that's why. They realize their audience is decreasing day by day so they just made one last attempt at getting views.

They weren't allowed to show them flirting, dating or kissing

Creators were too pussy to push for it or actually make some kind of a meaningful stand but still wanted the goodboy progressive points so went with this ending anyways

That, plus they literally only thought of it in a middle of writing the final season

from a writing perspective it sucks but thats insanely unlikely. episodes take the better part of a year to produce start to finish, so it was probably already produced by the time the season started.

On the one hand, this was a step forward as far as representation goes.

On the other hand, the writing to get there was nonexistent, it wasn't overtly confirmed until the comics, and it was literally the smallest fucking step they could have taken.

Frankly in the long run I think people are just going to feel more and more negative about this as time goes on and people forget that it was a step forward at all when put up against shit like Steven Universe and She-Ra and hopefully whatever ends up being the first western cartoon with a same sex pairing of main characters in a relationship DURING the fucking show.

Doubly so as people demand the show be given credit for moving the needle. It really fucking didn't. That the hand holding, while implicit, could be interpreted either way and had to be confirmed as them now in a relationship after the fact, really shows this was weaksauce.

>apparently being caring and supportive isn't enough for romance

are you looking for them to be in a romantic relationship or just a sexual one (fuck buddies)?

fuck off, we had a whole season and a half of Korra and Mako sucking on each other

I'll maintain one thing:

Asami had big BETA ORBITER energy.

>Hey Korra, you need transportation? You got it!
>Hey Korra, you want to hang out in my luxury airship? Nothing's too good for you.
>Hey Korra, you lost your bending? I'm going to be at your beck and call 24/7!
>Hey Korra, you need me to destroy this giant mech in a suicide mission, losing my dad in the process? Sure thing.

Almost everything she does in S3 and 4 is purely for Korra's sake. I get looking out for a friend. But they kinda went too far.

The finale didn't read to me as "Oh look, they're falling in love." and more as " Oh look, Asami guilt-tripped Korra into being her girlfriend."
And if Korra hadn't agreed , we might have gotten yandere Asami. That's honestly how the whole thing felt to me.

>Almost everything she does in S3 and 4 is purely for Korra's sake
That's what happens when you write a character who has nothing to do past their arc back in season 1 - they turn into a utility belt for the main character

>it didn't work out with these two guys, so i must be gay
This is what virgin allies apparently think gay it, and not just being an unrelatable bitch.

>this was a step forward as far as representation goes.

how? you wouldnt even know they were dykes unless you read bryke's tumblr post saying so.

I recall a scene of Asami complementing Korra’s haircut and her blushing about it.

Yeah, Asami was underdeveloped. But I find it kinda hilarious that her lack of interests and motivation kinda makes her come off as weird and creepy in retrospect.

This. I called them getting together soon as I saw it but admittedly had to wander if Nickelodeon would allow it.

People thought I was crazy til the ending. Pure fucking vindication is the sweetest gift.

because at that point, there basically was none. gotta remember this was a time before it was a lot more acceptable from companies/soccer moms. hell, even now its a touchy subject. from all the incessant arguing on the internet it causes, and the fact that the one recent episode of aruthr featuring a gay wedding was pulled from basic programming in Alabama, the fuckin hicks they are.

They did this strictly for PalComix & Paheal, nothing else.

the riders straight up admit in a blog post a while back and they had no intention for this relationship to even be a thing. It was straight up a pandering move

To PalComix & Paheal.

sounds like someone didn't watch season 4 at all aside from the final scene

stop fucking crying already

There wasn't any in LoK either though. It's a post production invention in the same vein as gay dumbledoore. It gets a pat on the back despite being too coward to actually represent anything.

One instance of an autist still caring about the retarded ending of a shitty show that ended 10 years ago and making the same thread every day.

>its just a ploy to get views

It was the finale.

I know people who watched the entire thing only because they heard is had lesbians in it. They were sorely disappointed.

"Would you like a ride in my car?"

Dude.

>supposed lesbian scenes

>On the one hand, this was a step forward as far as representation goes.

No, last-second gay is very much a step backwards, because it leaves a negative impact on people on the concept of gay as a whole.

They're full-blown lesbian scenes from a /u/fag perspective

Honestly I don't think it was motivated by pandering or some political agenda. I think they realized the show was shit and added it mainly as a criticism shield. If they make a big deal about the literal last second lesbian relationship, then they can dismiss any criticism as homophobia without addressing them. Its a cowardly move and if they they actually wanted to have Korra/Asami be the endgame, they should have started laying the groundwork in season 2 at least.

Why should anyone take /u/fags seriously though?

Just saiyan those del/u/sional faggots exist.

You never suddenly fell in love for someone you already knew?
