Almost a sure thing to hit the 3 episode goal. I think odds are pretty poor to hit all the stretch goals though.
the whole point of the kickstarter is that they don't have to make concessions to whatever french station was airing their vids, so they can actually age the cast properly and such. it might actually let them tell the story they want to. also, with 13 episodes max they'll be able to tell a decent arc.
i'd say think of it less as paying 85$ or whatever for, like, dosh - instead it's like commissioning artwork - you're paying for it to be made. the dosh is just extra.
hope they make it, it's looking like they'll fund their first episode within a half hour, so that's promising

What the fuck. Why would I spend that much on a bluray that potentially has only three episodes? I'll have to wait to see the full 13 episodes getting funded before I consider spending that much which means I'm not actually contributing to those episodes getting funded which is the point of kickstarter. Someone didn't think that through.

Longer campaigns typically do worse on Kickstarter, counter-intuitively. There’s almost always a lull in the middle and it just makes it more exhausting for the project creators to manage. The only advantage I can think of for a longer campaign is when you need time to continue building hype during the campaign, for example if you’re going to a few conventions while it’s running, but then you need a really solid plan to keep the hype up throughout or you risk seeing people lose interest and cancel their pledges before the campaign’s over.
For companies with an existing fanbase, most of the money is going to come in the first few and last days anyway. The only caveat in this case, IMO, is that Ankama will need time for old fans to hear about the campaign. An ongoing Indiegogo might have been better for them.

Ankama is paying for the bulk of each episode’s cost. The first 3 episodes for 100k is a minimum commitment they are making, despite expected costs of 300-400k per episode.
Not as far as I know, but I haven’t looked closely at their terms in a while.
You can pledge now and decrease/cancel your pledge later if they don’t meet your requirements. More support now means better momentum and better odds of actually reaching that threshold.

The basic goal is a gimme. You could just watch the money go up for ten minutes and know that. But the first kickstarter didn't even hit 500k. We will be lucky if this hits 6 episodes. Which is fine honestly. I just want some damned closure.
I still haven't seen season 3 just because I've been busy. I'll still probably donate because I enjoyed the first two seasons

What happened to France 3 and France 4
The first kickstarter was also before the series went on Netflix wasn't it? Either way there are only going to be more fans of the series now than there were then. The economic crisis doesn't bode well though so maybe they cancel each other out.

For comparison Peepoodo made 416.465€ on KS last year.
Hard to compare with season 3 KS that was made like 2014.
