Mostly is was cautious optimism.

Some 2003 turtles fans where butt hurt about them leaning into the "teenage" aspect of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But they where a small minority. Also, some people thoughts that CGI shows look "cheap/shit" compared to traditional animation.

Pretty positive from what I remember
People actually liked where the show was going for the most part

>The Back at the Barnyard guys are doing this? Who thought this was a good idea?
>Why is April a Loli?
>Everything is so blocky and toyetic!
>Two seasons at most.
>What is this monster of the week bullshit?

I wish the archive can go all the way back to 2012

Wow, it seems like everyone was wrong

It has the most punchable April I've ever seen. Like, I wanted to beat that stupid cunt to death.

I wanted to like it and it focused on the 'mutant' aspect of TMNT. The problem was that the show did way too much and was all over the place.

Why

She's a fucking unlikable cunt. 1987 April may have been a stupid fucking bitch but she was at least charming. 2003 April was a cunt too but she had some cool moments. 2012 just made every scene she's in completely insufferable.

It wasn’t the 90’s movie, so I didn’t give it a second thought.

It had the worst Shredder.

You didn't answer my question, you just raised more questions

I guess I just don't like her. Every time she opened her mouth about "b-but muh father" I just wanted to punch her in the face as hard as I could.

Bullshit

Personally I liked it, action sequences were well choreographed. I think I fell off watching it somewhere in season 3 but I still basically liked it.

>not as tragic as original comic Shredder
>not as funny as 1987 Shredder
>not as intimidating as 2003 or 1990 movie Shredder
The only Shredder I could think of who's worse is Bay's.

>not as intimidating as 2003 or 1990 movie Shredder
How many episodes have you watched

All of them.
Come on, seriously tell me this guy has anything on Scottie Ray's Shredder. Even as Super-Shredder he didn't feel too intimidating.

The only times I had issue with her was when she was all "you know what else is dangerous? Getting between me and my father." and when she had this attitude of being a badass because she was a kunoichi now.

He caused countless atrocities and ruined lives

Still nowhere near the level of menacing presence 2003 Shredder has.

Really positive.

I was never very into TMNT and I thought the first season of '12 was really promising. It set up a lot of really interesting arcs, proposed some interesting dynamics and honestly when it ended I felt like I wanted four or five more seasons. I read the IDW comics and watched the CGI movie.

But the momentum dropped almost immediately in the second season (may have been third and I stuck at it longer than I remember, I'm sure people who paid more attention to the show than me could tell you when it dropped off), I remember a creeping sense that plot threads I was interested in (Leo/Karai, April's development, Donnie's crush) weren't going to be resolved for a long time and would just be left twisting in the wind while more and more plot threads from the mythos were added. Honestly I felt the first season did fine with just the Foot and some mutants, I get the second season brought in the Utroms for background on mutants, so that's a logical progression, but at a certain point it felt like we were only seeing things because they'd been in the 84 or 03 series, and that the showrunners had no real interest in allowing those elements to breathe on their own here or to enrich what they were already building, and that they were losing interest in setups.

I really, really, really love Rob Paulsen as Donnie, though. I think it's just so fitting.

Being as I lost interest somewhere around Season 2, does anyone want to tl;dr me on how the remaining seasons progressed in terms of quality?

the later seasons went to very...off settings

What the fuck is with this board thinking "committing as many atrocities as possible" equals being intimidating?

It was mostly boring in the first season, then further seasons were all over the places. Surprisingly decent CGI was wasted on this series.

Maybe it'll get better.

Then it did.
Then it wobbled.
Then it recovered well enough to wrap most things up well.
Then we got the final season.

After coming off of '03 Turtles, I was glad to see them become pizza junkies again.

Earliest memory of this show was, "I'm not that kind of sub!"

April has always been the shittiest part of TMNT. And worse I hate how for many years writers keep trying to force her into being more important and giving her more time in the spotlight.

Oddly enough IDW TMNT is where April's presence is reduced. But that's because they want to push and force Jennika instead.

Best Splinter though.
