I know most of Zig Forums will disagree with me, but I liked the show better when it was darker, aka when it was "Grim & Evil".
When it got turned its own show, it continued with the same dark humor it had in season 1, but starting around 2005, it started focusing on booger, fart, shit, gags, characters screaming constantly, and meme humor (Fred Fredburger, the word "yo momma" repeated over and over again, etc.).
What went wrong? Why couldn't it have been like Grim & Evil?
Honestly I felt like as soon as Joe left the writing team it all fell apart. It did have that dark undertone. Felt genuinely like a "goth" kid show. After season one it just didn't vibe with me anymore. >Got a lapdance from Voltaire. Shit was cash.
Grayson King
>Did Billy & Mandy had a seasonal rot? Yes.
Asher Myers
Good, that show was fucking garbage later on
Aaron Adams
t. zoomer
Connor Gray
I think the show improved a bit after seasons 1 and 2. Season 7 was not very good though.
Joshua Garcia
I don't think so. I think it was great from beginning to end, and finished with one of the very best installments of the series, Underfist.
Angel Ortiz
>not appreciating Fred Fredburger
Bentley Rivera
Only zoomers liked the late seasons why do you think they tried to make Fred Fredburger the mascot?
Jaxson Jones
>_oomers Can you faggots come up with new words already? Holy shit.
Xavier Morgan
This. Mid seasons were the best. Season 1 was kinda weird, not as funny, and didn't really find a unique style yet.
Colton Evans
Network execs must've had a thing for Fred Fredburger back then, seeing as how frequently he showed up in a lot of CN bumpers & ads by the time the show was near that rotting point
Owen Williams
They could've put him into a bunch of episodes if they wanted to, but the crew chose not to because they understood that Fred Fredburger is best in small doses. Since his introduction he appeared in about 3 or 4 episodes out 50 or so.
Lucas Lopez
The first seasons had more grim but the changes in later season aren't all that bad. It was nice with some exceptions. I still miss the show.
Jeremiah Brooks
It got to shit when they flanderized the characters >Mandy went from a mean girl to the spawn of Satan >Billy went from dumb, but still had common sense to a complete retard >Grim went from being intimidating earlier on and scared humans to being a complete joke that nobody took seriously. >Irwin went from Billy's reasonable friend to a Black stereotype who says YO all the time >Harold, like Billy had common sense earlier on but later was turned into a retard too What went wrrong?
Xavier Phillips
Dunno I never sensed nearly as much flanderization in B&M than in even season 4-5 of spongebob. Maybe it’s because it’s a darker and weirder show? Spongebob for all it’s worth is a show about fish but has a fairly grounded world. Anything could happen in Billy and Mandy and that have it much more leeway
Ethan Hernandez
That's not what flanderization is. The characters evolved over time. Flanderization is them taking one aspect of their personality and having it overtake their whole character, like Ned Flanders and his religious aspect. It used to be a small part of him but its now all his character is about.
Aaron Rogers
What's there to appreciate?
Ryan Foster
Ok gloomer
Anthony Russell
only for like the last season or two, and even then it was still hilarious for the most part(except that Spider Queen special, that one sucked)
I do agree that they definitely made the titular two characters too one-dimensional over the course of the show, especially with Mandy, though with Billy I think it's less about them making him stupider and more that they made him meaner
Ian Howard
They still ruined the characters, this is EEnE season 5 all over again
Colton Hughes
SO FUCKING HILARIOUS user. Kill yourself.
Joseph Hall
Ok fumer
Hunter Taylor
The EEnE characters were already that way in Season 4. It's when I started to question "Why are these people friends?"
Kayden Davis
>EEnE season 5 How did EEnE ruin its characters?
Parker Howard
It’s a good show. One of the better ones from CN’s golden age. Also, grim is peak husbando material
Christian Smith
Ok Amy Schumer
Benjamin Lewis
The “yo momma” jokes were unironically funny though
Adrian Wilson
Anyone who said this show didn't have Seasonal Rot is lying, either to you or themselves. It just wasn't entirely bad despite the rot and had fun things like Blackula.
But yes, there was definitely a decline in quality starting from the super chickens episode.
Andrew Brown
How old are you. Oh Pee?
Charles Allen
Of all of these characters, I feel like Harold got hit the hardest.
