at what point do you feel Pixar’s movie started to become less interesting or enjoyable?
Pixar’s Decline
Such an event has no happened yet IMO
Toy Story 4.
For me, Brave/Cars 3 was when I stopped really giving a fuck.
They've always come back.
Cars was followed by Ratatouille.
Cars 2, Brave, and Monsters University were followed by Inside Out.
The Good Dinosaur was followed by Coco.
Everything made after Up is unmemorable.
Regardless of their quality, I found my interest waning with more sequels; I still haven't seen Finding Dory or Cars 3.
That being said, I think Coco is one of their best.
this is the correct take

Inside Out is shit.
They've never gone completely bad, but they've put out a lot of meh films starting with Cars 2. Overall their standalone films are better than their sequels.
They haven't made an all out classic since Toy Story 3 and their output since that film has been lacking. It's been a rollercoaster of quality with them. Those first 11 films were kino so it makes me sad to see what once was the best U.$. animation studio become so content on being mediocre. The fact they have only one new film announced and there's an empty schedule after worries me a lot. I've heard it's been a shitshow over there creatively as well. Just makes me sad really.
>Toy Story 3
>classic
You are the first person I've seen ever say that to Toy Story 3 so to say you're a contrarian would be an understatement.
Everything after Ratatouille
Pixar used to stop doing things when they were becoming cliches (eg the outtakes) .
Now they just seem to think of a way of making people cry in 5 minutes, tie it to a theme then write an odd couple roadtrip movie around it (because they let you just do a string of barely connected set pieces and are easy to write) You see it start in Finding Nemo but it was Up that solidified the format. I think a lot of it was down to Lasseter becoming more involved in Disney Animation, then being forced out, the more removed from Pixar, the more generic they became.
When Disney 3D was created, and all the top talent left for that, and Pixar was used as a recruitment farm/testing bed for new animators.
That on it's own is fine, but they kept pimping out the Pixar name to make a buck off it's pedigree, when said pedigree was no longer there.
At no point has Pixar been perfectly consistent. In my opinion they have yet to outdo Toy Story, and probably never will. Though I think that Inside Out was the last time they were "pretty good".
When I looked back on them as I got older
Not him but if you actually pay attention to the movie all the way through, and don't just get taken in by the nostalgiabait intro and conclusion, there's a lot of problems. My opinion of the movie significantly changed after watching/rewatching Pixar's entire library recently.
Not the same user, but to me Toy Story 3 was only good for the ending. The rest of the movie felt the same as 2 and Buzz being flipped to default mode yet again and then into Spanish mode was annoying to sit through. Scenes at the dumpster and last scenes with Andy and Bobby were great but the rest I could have done without.
Whhops, meant to quote this post
re-watching the series I realized that they had no idea what the hell to do with Buzz after 1.
They've really had no idea what to do with Buzz after the first movie. It's been the Woody show.
Grow a heart
I enjoy all of their movies outside of Cars 2, even if some of them are obviously better than others. Incredibles and Inside Out are among my top 10 favorite western animation films
The First Toy Story remains as the best one in the franchise.

being shaken by Shrek then completely surpassed by Zootopia got a worse effect on Pixar than a general drop in quality content
TS1 is the only Pixar film in which Katzenberg had some influence before leaving. It does feel a bit more naughty and edgy than other Pixar films
Pixar wasn't beaten by Shrek. Monsters Inc was the more successful film back in 2001. Shrek 2 and 3 did make more money than Incredibles and Ratatouille ( undeservingly )
Inside Out is better than Bug's Life, Nemo, Cars and most of Ratatouille tho
Up
Even Pixar's 2010s output is still better than anything put out by Dreamworks or Illumination that decade. Fight me
I really loved Nemo, The Incredibles, and Frozen, but either disliked all of their sequels or just find them incredibly bland.
Is it a sign of Disney selling its soul, ever cynically overseeing the soulless rehash of old plot points in the name of safe marketing? Or am I just overthinking the fact that I'm a weird, lonely adult trying to see something more in-depth in animated family movies?
If anything, Disney was defeated by Shrek. That movie destroyed Atlantis at the box office, and was more successful than any Disney animation since Lion King
Out of all these only Inside Out was decent at least having not overused concept
Reminder that Inside Out is a near masterpiece of a family movie. It was pretty much Osmosis Jones with a good script
