he focuses more on punishing criminals instead of saving lives--his identity is literally focused on making people too afraid to do crime, which doesn't actually help because people STILL commit crime literally ALL of the time

For all the tech, money, and brainpower Batman puts into solving crises he should be able to develop some kind of anti-psychotic that keeps people in Arkham

You don't have to read comics to "get Batman" because he exists in multiple mediums.
That's the issue with American supes/comics, everyone has claim to understand the character but people are gatekeeping anyone who doesn't fellate their heroes when worshipping them
