Even with clutch, downshifting doesn't make your car flip like a stick in the spokes of a bicycle

Having actually owned a manual transmission before, if Amber is pulling it out of gear then all that would happen is that the van goes into neutral. If she's putting it into gear, then it probably wouldn't work unless the engine is at the right RPM range, and all that would happen is the car switching gears. At worst the engine would stall, but more likely it'd just be at a really high or really low RPM. If she threw it in reverse, it'd just act like it was in neutral because the transmission can't physically engage reverse until it's at a full stop. Basically, the only way for Amber to stop the van just by switching gears would be to upshift and hope the engine stalls - which wouldn't have it come to a screeching halt.

high gear means low engine braking, even if the engine stalls (which it won't because you can go from 3rd to 5th and it will still go especially with blaine stepping on the gas) the van would not brake or break down.
Amber (magically) put the van into first gear, that's gonna lock the wheels if you're switching from 3rd, even 2nd if you were at higher rpm since the first gear in vans is very short.

there's a big problem with all this though, blaine just has to press the clutch and the van wouldn't do shit, just coast along.

it would make much more sense if amber tried to pull the hand brake, even if in all the vans I've worked on it's on the left hand side of the driver it would be less of a stretch to have it on the right than whatever bullshit this is.

Given the art it's hard to tell exactly how Amber is shifting gears. Another thing to consider is that even if she shifted into first it wouldn't necessarily lock the wheels unless the RPMs were high enough - assuming she could actually get it into gear. Clutchless shifting requires a lot of force compared to regular shifting, never mind trying to force it to skip a gear while you're at it. But you're right in that having her pull the e-brake would have made a lot more sense given what happens.

Not much. Willis has several weeks worth of strips in advance, he just has a bot update the website for him at 12AM every day. So we're probably getting two weeks of filler, and then the BLM storyline
