Well, which is better, Disney shorts or Looney Tunes?
Well, which is better, Disney shorts or Looney Tunes?
Other urls found in this thread:
One is still aired on television and still entertains children
The other is a copyright hoarding jew rat who's a shell of his former self
my dick vs your asshole
...
It's hard to compare because both properties bring something different to the table. Apples and oranges
Looney Tunes because they aired on television and was accessible to everyone.
FPBP
Was anyone else in on copying the name of Silly Symphonies or was it just Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies?
Neither
Those LT shorts are censored to hell and back.
If you're talking these disney shorts on pic related vs looney tunes on hbo max, then im team disney all the way bro. Shit's kino as fuck
Let's see...
Warner Bros - They bring cunning wit and comedy. Pushing the envelope in their day.
Disney - Infantile family friendly bullshit restrictions and censorship that unfortunately are successful and in their success has DESTROYED Western Animation and now for multiple generations many bastard adults who grew up on shitty Disney thinks that animation is only to be infantile trite.
Disney is shit and needs to die.
At least it made them accessible to the common man, unlike Disney sitting on high with the pretense that their characters are "too good" for TV.
Looney Tunes are undeniably better. Old Disney shorts are beautiful and feel good but Looney Tunes are funny and provide a hell of a lot more entertain. I don't even know where to find decent quality Disney shorts online. For the record I love both.
Ripoffs either in name and/or style:
Happy Harmonies (MGM)
Color Rhapsodies (Columbia)
Color Classics (Fleischer Studios) transforming to Noveltoons (Famous Studios) after the Paramount coup
Screen Songs (Famous Studios) (at least with the animation wrapping around the sing-along portions)
Cartune Classic (Universal)
Swing Symphony (Universal)
Rainbow Parade (Van Beuren, mostly directed by Burt Gillett after he was poached from Disney)
The Fleischer version of Screen Songs doesn't count because it was first released before Silly Symphonies and typically used more live-action footage of singers than animation.
Rutracker has full DVDs of the entire Walt Disney Treasures set, but a couple DVDs were repressed with fixes that required getting a replacement from Disney. Chip 'n Dale shorts are notably missing from the Treasures set, as well as the Oswald shorts that were rediscovered after the DVD release and a few one-shots.
Popeye.
I like both just fine but Looney Tunes is funnier and has a lot more variety in their characters.
Do you have any more spook webms like this
It would be nice if they weren't just leaning on mickey mouse. Bring back sports goofy, Humphrey the Bear, and Donald Duck fighting gophers or chip and dale or some shit. This shit doesn't hold a candle to House of Mouse.
Disney shorts are comfier but the Looney Tunes are more entertaining.
Classic Looney Tunes > Classic Disney
New Mickey Mouse > Looney Tunes Cartoons
Imagine a Popeye beat em up in the style of the cartoons sort of like Cuphead.
Popeye shits all over them both, it's a shame he's on the verge of fading into obscurity in a generation or two.
Sucks shit that his best chance for relevancy was overruled by the fucking emoji movie.
I'd even take a remake of the old Arcade game as long as it used the cuphead technique.
Disney's a rat but looney tunes gets old. Mickey and gang are timeless. And if I somehow do get bored of that, Chad Fleischer won't let me down.
Popeye is dope but let's not kid ourselves. It's not nearly as funny or as interesting as Looney Tunes.
Just remembered another ripoff - Animated Antics (Fleischer). I don't believe Talkartoons (Fleischer) counts as a ripoff, since the release date for the first short is only a couple of months after Skeleton Dance. Finally, Aesop's Fables (Fabletoons/Van Beuren) started in the early 20s and Terrytoons doesn't have an anthology series, they're just simply released as one-shots whereas star characters like Mighty Mouse all had their own series.
It's a real shame that a lot of these are either perpetually locked in the vaults (everything from Terrytoons, almost everything from Columbia and almost everything from Universal that's not Woody Woodpecker - there's a bunch of misc shorts that can be found on an incredibly obscure mail order-only 15-DVD Woody Woodpecker set, Talkartoons that don't feature Betty Boop), completely assraped by DVNR (Happy Harmonies and MGM one-shots from the 40s not directed by Tex Avery) or censored (Happy Harmonies again) since a lot of stuff is beautifully animated, have rich background details and are pleasant to watch, if nothing else. Everything can be found, either on dollar bin PD DVDs (Fleischer/Famous and Van Beuren especially) or shitty bootleg quality on sites like iOffer. Swing You Sinners! not having an official release is a crime against humanity, though at least there's a low-bitrate 480p Youtube upload of a good scan - youtube.com
based, shame that most of the Famous Studios stuff is either derivative of Fleischer shorts or just shit. We're On Our Way to Rio is absolute kino though
Popeye's only really great during the early Fleischer years. There's good content in the Famous shorts but the nosedive in quality is evident
>Mickey and gang are timeless.
Name 10 great Disney shorts off of the top of your head that you could watch on repeat. I dare you.
>widescreen
about you post a version in it's original aspect ratio, asshole. What cartoon from the 40's would not be in 4:3? I wouldn't be surprised if you watched 8thmandvd on YouTube like a degenerate scumbag.
Goofy skiing, Mickey being robin hood. Daffy duck but with the porky pig cameo. Goofy vs Daffy duck in the clock tower. Chip and Dale vs Daffy. Chip and dale vs Mickey. Daffy teaching his nephews sports. Steamboat Willie. The one with the fire and Clarabelle cow. Pluto fighting that cat. Daffy Duck trying to get a date but ends up falling into the sewer.
>Daffy Duck trying to get a date but ends up falling into the sewer.
I rest my case.
>Bugs
>Daffy
>Porky
>Elmer Fudd
>Yosimite Sam
>Sylvester and Tweety
>Speedy Gonzales
>Marvin the Martian
>Taz
>Foghorn Leghorn
>Yosimite Sam
>Witch Hazel
>Gossamer
>Wile E Coyote and Roadrunner
And Mickey Disney had like 3 characters.
