Were they a good team? Viv a cute.
Champions
Their Twitter handle got stolen and trolled.
An actual story arc
Ends with Sam saying why not change their Twitter handle
So no. They were not a good team
Chulk was a terrible choise. Teen Scott would have been better without the young hitler thing hanging over his head. Kamala is a terible choice for leader and was basically a different character from her solo. But then again they didn't really have a good choice for leader either. Waid's premise was dumb and tried too hard to appeal to woke kids.
Are they as woke as they look?
who doesn't have that problem...
They were preachy bleeding hearts that quit the Avengers because they didn't do enough to help the community.
And then Miles made ad Deal with Mephisto
No.
To the point that it killed a lot of the Kamala enthusiasm in the readership.
Yes, actually.
Good team on paper (minus Cho -- what the hell are you doing there man), execution hit the rim and flew back into its own face.
Only when they have Giant and Flare.
Interesting team, shit dynamics. Kamala was written horribly.
I hope we see more Viv team ups or an ongoing.
Most Cyke stuff felt like a breath of fresh air, and their reunion with adult Cyke in v2 was very good. Hopefully they'll meet again soon enough, after all X men have their own island now and I'm sure cyclops misses his old friends
>I hope we see more Viv team ups or an ongoing
The team just killed Viv in Outlawed.
>The team just killed Viv
Please be a lie.
Just like old Spidy.
Yeah, retcons can't delete the fact that editorial thought than making a deal with the devil was heroic. OMD will always be a thing
It could've been good with a different writer.
How did Marvel fuck up Kamala so bad?
Nope
>AIM is target a teenage activist for some reason
>Kamala, Miles, Nadia, and Viv sneak into a summit to protect her while everyone else waits outside
>AIM attacks and brings a fucking dragon for some reason
>Kamala escorts the target out of the building while the others go to help, but forgot to decide who would be in charge outside
>Team can't decide how to deal with the dragon so Power Man just decides to chi bomb it
>Viv gets pissed the team is being retarded and decides to take it down herself
>Power Man accidentally chi bombs Viv, overcharges her, and makes her run wild
>Guess we need to kill her
>Riri and Nadia blow Viv up
>Vision is sad now
>quirky hero in jersey that has an ethnic background and has been doing cape thing for a couple months
>clearly she needs to be the leader of a global team fighting world threats
>also preachy as hell
>Also lets put her in every event and multiple books despite her solo selling worst than ever
Wilson doing basically nothing in the last 15 chapters of her run didn't help either
Basically...they turned her into modern Carol Danvers.
oh em gee hashtag relatable!!!
Poor Power Man deserves more respect than this
>killing off a cute robo wife
Fuck Marvel.
I don't know what Waid was thinking. The team was way too invested in their brand and it was never anything they learned from. It was just a way for the villains to troll them.
It may have been merciful after everything Waid did to her.
Waid wanted to much, he was too ambitious no good way of executing it.
>want to do some shit about colateral damage so lets have the heroes fixing up a bridge instead of the people who are paid to do that
>I want it to be more real and not superheroes so first arct sex traffickers
>I don't like bullying so here is this insane punching down rule where the can't beat up people physically weaker than them which is basically everyone in this "real" narrative
>back to real again in this chapter we are in a town that manages to have ever ethnic group under son and also extreme racist, watch as the heroes spend several pages trying to come up with a reason for how this happened besides racism, then decide that it actually was racism
I say the controversy thing because it's the only thing to say besides plugging my asshole with the party line clock from the last faggot to repeat verbatim the same points that.must have been in the Diamond Direct blurb.
Young Scott was awesome, no one cares about Nova and if I could I would combine the two characters in a Infinity Warps issue and keep Scott and Nova the same character, Xavier and Nova Force warped together too etc etc. Brb. Gonna nut. Brb.
They recovered once Zub took over. It's crazy how much he salvaged the concept from Waid.
I still think it's a fakeout.
The Champions team was fun, but I feel like they never got a good strong team story to run through. I mean, it was always supposed to be lower-tier given that they were teenage heroes who specifically wanted to target the sorts of issues the "adult" heroes thought were too small scale ... but that doesn't mean they can't still be interesting or hard hitting. They did do some interesting stuff, but it almost always revolved around a few specific characters rather than the team as a whole (eg. Viv's human arc, Miles dealing with the reversed death of Kamala and Viv, etc).
I dunno, just feels like they had some fertile ground, but just never hit their full potential.
I mean, this isn't the first time they've done a story where Viv has been "killed", severely injured, and/or rebuilt. It's not even the first time within the last year that she's died.
