Almost no one when that shit got hard confirmed by the crew accepted it, everyone liked it exclusively as a nice concept, but then the crew used it as an excuse for ignoring the concept of Peridot fusing entirely, instead of making a competent in show reason for it.
Definitely bait thread but holy fuck was it an awful decision for ANYONE to speak up on something that laid resting until the very end.

Sad part is I don't even like Peridot, the writing decision to excuse her never fusion with asexuality to score brownie points was just a retarded move that backfired hard

Fusion was always sex
The crew just started saying it wasn't to cover their asses when Steven started fusing
You can tell they are scared of the fanbase because everyone who worked on the show stopped associating with them as soon as the final episode aired and haven't said a word about the last season or all the unanswered questions

Steven fuses super early on, fusion was never sex

Steven fusing with Connie was a very obvious allegory for puberty and losing virginity
Dumbass

He fuses with his main love interest

It's weird that the crew member who confirms this shit over twitter admits it wasn't their idea and they were just reciting what was discussed around the crew table.
Making it sound like Rebecca's or someone else's idea that got accepted.

Fucking hell the crew's word became garbage to listen to, I hope no one who sees this shit show in the future accepts anything they said as canon, their opinions are awful.

Alien sex.
Not human sex.

Fusion can mean a variety of things.
Relationships
Sex
Trust
Its basically intimacy at its highest form.
And one singular thing can have a plethora of meanings under certain contexts.

Going to go full autism here and try to explain it.
Peridot being asexual might not be literal, she might just be an allegory for not wanting a certain type of relationship. Fusion doesn't create babies, it just creates a relationship. Therefore it's not sex, while it is comparable.
>inb4 gay sex
Yes gay people have sex too, but they use the organs that have the function of making babies to do so.
Tl;DR: Fusion is a certain type of relationship Peridot doesn't want, making her an asexual allegory rather than actually being asexual.

I want to have sex with Peridot

In show logic:
Peridot just doesn't want to fuse (Simple)
Crew autism logic:
She's asexual guys! That means no matter what she will NEVER EVER fuck anyone!
Oh, but let's confirm this in the same episode where she practically is cuddling up all the time next to MC.

Maya or whoever it was confirmed this in the same episode the two were writing fanfiction together, this shit was fucking dumb when it got dropped on the fans' laps.

Rebecca has literally compared fusions to babies and considers every fusion's components its "parents"

>Fusion doesn't create babies.
>What are the fusions.

I don't really pay attention to the crewniverse and their virtue signalling. I only really care about what's going on inside of the show and judge media based on that.
It's a "Hermoine is black and Dumbledore is gay" situation in my eyes.

It's different then human sex though.
Isn't it?

i fucking hate arguing for literal hours and getting absolutely nowhere with you willfully retarded assholes so i will explain this once and leave the thread fully expecting you to intentionally ignore anything i say.
fusion for gems is analogous to sex for humans and there are some similarities between how interpersonal relationships are expressed through fusion and sex. if you don't understand what an analogy is and draw a direct equivalency between the two concepts, you are too dumb to understand a children's show and should not be wasting anyone's time trying to discuss any topic.

First time hearing this, but I don't use social media nor do I seek out what creators have to say about their work unless I don't think that I fully understand it. Thank you for telling me.
Garnet calls herself a relationship, I took that literally.

Fusion is a metaphor for relationships.
Sexual relationships are a type of relationship.
Not all fusion is about sex, some fusions are sexual.

Was that seriously hard to understand?

Thank god there's someone else who recognizes the classic 'if it's not done in the content itself, it really can't matter much' approach.
It solves all this bullshit.
Because you get shit like this otherwise when people try to comprehend the crew's retarded ramblings.

Props to you user.

Of course it's not literal sex but I don't think that's what anyone is arguing
Like said it's an allegory, there's just a few retards that deny the parallels and claim the crew didn't intend for it to be compared to sex when it obviously is supposed to be

fuck this show for giving me the vivid mental image of sweaty greg porking his crying son

This.

Well if it's not literal sex then what's the problem? Let it be an allegory for sex then. They're aliens. Sex may not be that big of a deal to them.

Thanks now I have that image in my head.

There is nothing to explain. Fusion is all kind of relationship, including but not exclusively sex.

And at no point did they ever said that Peridot would never ever fuse. You are trying to create a contradiction where there is none.

It was during a panel that happened right before Future started airing. She also compared fusions to two parents having a child in some online book thing that was a part of the dove project. I'm sure that was her intention behind Rose and Greg making Steven after Greg was trying to find out how to fuse with her.

>She's asexual guys! That means no matter what she will NEVER EVER fuck anyone!
They never said that.

Didn't Pearl also go on and on about how fusion is literally the most intimate anyone cane be with another person?

So she's aromantic?

Yes
And then Greg cucked her
Serves her right

You and hopefully other anons do know that claiming a character is asexual is practically saying they have a low attraction to sex
(Or in this stupidly autistic case) fusing right?
They aren't saying she'll never fuse yes, but they're claiming just by throwing this brownie point earning word that she has a low chance of doing so.
Since it needs to be reminded what the definition is.

Attached: file.png (437x157, 14.92K)

What the hell is aromantic?

You don't fall in love with people or want a romantic relationship

I don't think that's Peridot.

Isn't that basically what asexual is?

Asexual is not being sexually attracted to people or wanting to have sex, which is the case for a lot of autists like peridot

asexual is where you don't want to fuck

Didn't Steven Fuse with his dad? Was that an allegory for incestual rape? Steven universe is a lot more deep than I though. Either that or their "deep" metaphors were ill-conceived and poorly planned,

So aromantic is when you want to fuck but don't want a relationship?
Are we living in a time where every frat boy is part of LGBT now?

Shut the FUCK UP PETERSEN!
You already got your fucking ship.

Steg has the most sexualized character design on the show so maybe

once steven tried to kill his dad, i could clearly see potential hatesex between them

It's not a question user, their metaphor WAS poorly planned and purely exists for pandering.
Garnet is a point of tension because of how badly her advice on this shit flip flops because almost every fusion is by definition a 'sum of their parts' and not 'something entirely new' a lot of the time.
If the show never forced the former definition i'm 99% sure this show would lose one of it's many criticized points of preachy writing.

It's gem sex.
Different taboos exist.

pretty sure that's a metaphor for father/son bond
I still can't get over how he became a literal barachad

I blame zuke for all the self inserty ship pandering, as soon as she left peridot went back to being good
Who knows why she would pick an autistic midget of all characters for that shit

because steven has a campy imagination and greg's idealized self image is himself as a ripped rock star
