Goddamn, he is smug and patronizing as fuck. And the Alison panel feels superfluous.
Hudson Torres
Salemi Devilmuffins is truly the smuggest being to have ever smugged.
Isaac King
It looks very anime-esque and I'm sure that was the point
Leo Gutierrez
you can't have an anime fight without someone going THAT STANCE...!
Ayden Walker
Hayai!
Easton Martin
>styling on white chain using her own moves Damn salami dan
Juan Jones
I've always wondered why so many animes and mangas rely on having a peanut gallery watching every fight to explain it. Do they think the panels/animation can't convey the action on their own?
Aaron Long
>Do they think the panels/animation can't convey the action on their own? It's because they can't. At least not most of the time. Ever notice how when anime goes "high budget action sequence" they stop saying that shit? In anime, 96% of the content is basically tween'd manga frames and 4% of it gets the animation budget. That's just how it works. They say "those moves. No motions wasted!" because they can't afford to animate such a sensation, but as long as you pepper enough dynamic poses/shots, the effect is still made.
Carson Hernandez
I feel like Solomon just doomed himself by not ending the fight as soon as he could
William Allen
He's just messing with her, no chance WC makes it out of this alive
Jeremiah Flores
Yeah but that's the point he's toying with her and taunting her. He's too proud and he's gonna get a cut and go berserk
Aiden James
well that and a lot of the time those reaction panels are just in the source material anyway
Jayden Green
On one hand, this seems like poor sportsmanship- taunting your enemy by wrecking them with their own style. On the other, I feel like this is the closest Salami Dave gets to actually being respectful. He could have busted out the Ki Rata immediately but instead he's allowing his opponent a real fight before they die. But again, it's all wrapped up in the conceit of reminding everyone, all the time, that he's in total control of every situation. I don't think I've seen PRIDE done this well.
Exactly. Hence the "twwneed manga" comment. Manga needs it. Anime technically doesn't, but we can't go over-budget here. Do you know how expensive it would be to actually animate each "action sequence" in an action manga?
Zachary Cruz
That's exactly what he's thinking, there's logically no way she can win. But there's no limit to what someone resolute can do in this comic. Even an angel might be capable of the impossible. The text about Metia realizing that the weight of a god is the same as that of an empty whelk also foreshadows White Chain's victory.
Parker Ramirez
That body is not her body. She'll make it out of here as she is. But that body is long gone.
Justin Rodriguez
Can't wait for White Chain to cut him. I can already picture the smugness leaving his face and I know I'll love it.
John Wright
>manga needs it yup, agreed. I started to say "expanding a manga to fully convey the feeling of power without the peanut gallery would involve a lot of work", but that's exactly what you were saying. Sidebar-- I wonder if Japan anime people are really REALLY purist, so removing all the reaction explanations in favor of one "totally, absolutely realized" fight show (dragon ball without all the reactions) would draw a lot of vitriol. I wonder.
Christopher Kelly
I wonder what other martial arts Solomon knows Maybe he's a master of Pattram Sword hand and can also spaguettify his fingers like Juggernaut
Isaac Lee
I would imagine he's familiar or has mastered most every style by now, just, he's known as the Ki rata dude because well, he's *the* Ki rata dude and the only other Ki rata master is a NEET.
Someone remined me again why Silly Dan does this futile tournament when he knows 99% of the multiverse can't touch him?
Jaxson Gomez
To flex his power
Jose Walker
Then why is it still the same in mangoes and print media?
Landon Reed
>as she is Angel death rules goes you can take a beating so bad you get shunted back to the void. But you will come back same as you were so long as your body remains intact.
But if your body ALSO is annihilated, then not only do you go back to the void but you have to reincarnate as an entirely new being with a new personality. Solomon is more than capable of doing this to White Chain and when she returns she won't be the same.
Luis Nelson
Pride and ego.
Colton Allen
holy shit that style is so powerful that arm covers his beard
Chase Turner
>when David IS the Goliath
Alexander Garcia
> Goliath gets killed by a headshot from a sling stone
> Dave "kills" white chain back to the void, but a fragment from the explosion ends up cutting him anyways
Shouldn't have worn white, fool.
Aiden Flores
It doesn't matter if he knows it. The rest of the multiverse has to know it too.
Lincoln Parker
The Seven have those seven deadly sins going on you know. It's like Guitarsolo McDonalds is prideful.
Hunter Nelson
mfw wc dislodges a loose bolt and wings it at shlamala dingdang who easily dodges it only for it to bonk one of his sons on the head causing him to bleed. game. set. match.
for manga, it's because drawing action scenes well is technically challenging and requires a lot of art chops that many artists simply lack. hate on dragonball all you want, but those fight scenes are well rendered easy to understand, and flow well. that's actually hard to do.
additionally, manga is created under serious time constraints - often there are weekly production deadlines for publishing. if you can cut corners and save yourself time, you do it, even if you have the chops, unless you are very fast and/or have assistants.
at this point, spectators announcing how gobstopped and flabbergasted they are at the martial spectacle transpiring before them is a stylistic conceit, kind of like announcers at the WWE - hype generation and offering a description of what's going on, especially if its unclear they are doing mystical kungfooey stuff you cant see, or the action is unclear,or they are fighting with HITHERTO UNKNOWN POWER LEVELS because Japan super cares about power LEVELS and that kind of thing.
Cameron Wright
The other thing everyone is ignoring is that these manga are usually made for children and the dialogue/over explanation of things tends to reflect that
